How to keep off the remote worker radar…

Make sure that you have a badge swipe after 8:00AM local time. Stay off VPN until after 5 PM local time.

Att has a better way to measure metrics than key in and out. If your revenge is to not do much in office be careful. The tools and capabilities are there to measure your desktop activity. True, then can't monitor everyone all the time. For sure, they can monitor some people some of the time. If you are in a place where it won't bother you to lose your job, proceed.

“The attendance checker looks at swipes between 8-4.”

So if I get there at 7 and don’t leave for lunch, then I’m counted for zero swipes for the day? That’s stupid. Fine. I’ll be late every day so I am counted as there.

They don't get jack squat extra from me when I'm in the office. Swipe badge at 10min to 8am, plug into corporate LAN, take my 15min break during am tour, take my full 1 hour lunch nowhere near the office, take my 15min break in the afternoon and then pack up and walk out the door at 5pm sharp and turn the phone off. The executive dum*azz can pat himself/herself on the back for a job well done, but I promise you, I'm not a lick more productive in the office. No way. And since you've destroyed any trust or care I have, the work you do get will be just enough to keep me from getting fired. Nothing more. I guarantee it.

I swipe my badge maybe once a week. Most buildings I visit have keys. OSP

says quite a bit about the company that card swipes are a metric for productivity, and not what you're actually doing. Easy enough to confirm remote worker is seated (or standing, as some of us have standing desks) and working at whatever hour you choose.

Oh, and don't overlook that many of us don't "swipe out at 4", but keep working until the day's work is complete. That's not happening if I'm faced with round-trips to an office, working off one screen, on a flimsy chair in a noisy open sweatshop.

OP has it down to a fine science. Jus to add, above all, keep a low profile, remain inconspicuous at all times.

Take a nap in the back cubical or the janitor's closet until 11.
Grab a coffee until 12.
Lunch at 12
Find another location to snooze in until 3.
Tell your boss you've been on back to backs in the teleconference room and clean out e-mail from 3 to 5.
