Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Vicious cycle of destruction

What I've observed:

  1. Cisco tends to lay off the older, highly skilled and motivated support staff, sales, engineers and internal staff. Obviously this eventually affects customers.
  1. Many of those laid off land at corps that use Cisco products. They don't forget how they were treated. First chance they get, first excuse, Cisco is replaced. I know about this personally. :)
  1. Enough with the offshoring. It doesn't work. You end up with bad products, buggy software, buggy devices, and horrific support.

You used to be able to rely on Cisco for good support. That is no longer the case and removes the justification for paying more for their products and services.

It appears that CR is doubling down by cutting more staff and offshoring.

Does he have no clue? ELT, maybe listen to those several steps below your highly paid sycophants who just lie to you.

At least on the software side Cisco has been producing buggy software for at least three decades, well before offshoring. Static analysis as well as any kind of quality analysis on code from those ancient times will prove Cisco was almost unimaginably incompetent. All the hardware products I saw die before FCS were designed in the US as well. The offshore sites perform poorly because of the training and lack of expectation provided by the US, and if you think otherwise look at the companies in India who have executed well on CMM. The limitations are from Cisco culture, not foreign culture.

older and highly skilled and motivated are not necessarily on the same person per my Cisco experience. I see both in few persons but not many. Some old ones are not as responsible as the leadership they are blaming.
