Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Combining CL for ranking

Due to the reduced workforce after years of layoffs, er sorry, low performance, we will be combining 8 CL levels this time to protect certain people and of course, minorities (just not the Asians, Hispanics, and Middle Eastern). So basically all CL levels will be in the same rank group. We pride ourselves on our transparent and fair ranking system that will make us a better company.

21 to 29 in my group this year, have seen many variations over my two decades: 24-25, 26-27, 28-29,then exec. Other years was 23-27, then, 28-29. Then 21-29…..

@1zen+1mFMKkX2 what is wrong with you making a statement that is wrong? I am in one of those 20-27 groups

Not a blanket rule. Grouping depends on how large your organization is and the distribution of CLs within it. I’ve seen everything from a 20-27 group to a 26-27 group depending on how many people are in the cl distributions. It changes every year.

Maybe some of that is happening. My understanding is 26-28 are being protected with work that would be done by lower CLs . The path up is being flooded by these people who should have been let go of or I guess leftover. We all knew there would be some strange gap issues but this really hurts if you have no sponsorship but just good work ethic.

White males in technical jobs are sc--w'd. The CLs are being combined to protect, in this order:

  1. HiPos
  2. Operations
  3. minorities
  4. women

The first ones to be NSI are older (>50 yo) white males in technical positions, if that doesn't get the number, then white males in technical positions ages 35-49 starting with the older ones first, then if we still need more, the rest of the white males in technical positions.

Since I am in categories 2, and 3 above, like the commercial, "I'm Lovin' It!".

That’s not true. There is nothing like CL20-27 getting combined

So, basically the same as in the past but with more CLs ranked together?
