Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

IP Addresses

Anyone ever wonder if our lovely bank checks the IP addresses of this site and ties it back to your computer (hopefully at least your personal computer and you aren't stupid enough to use a bank laptop)? Just curious. I don't care, I have a VPN on my system...but some comments on here sure do seem to come from WF Mngt or HR.

If you're going to visit this site on a work computer, you deserve that Darwin award.

You'd have to be pretty stupid to post here from a work computer assuming it's not blocked. No way would I hit this site from a work computer.

And for that matter how are they going to get my IP address from this site?

Don't post from your work systems or when using the company VPN and you'll be fine.

IT guy here.

WF watches you at work, not at home. They can't, it would be illegal to monitor your personal tech.

It would be much easier to analyze everyone's written work comm and compare it with what's posted on a site like this and ID people that way. Might have to get all AI'ey to do it efficiently, but it's possible.

There are some comical replies in here in addition to the OP.

Wells can't "check the ip's of this site" randomly (assuming you really mean is can Wells check this sites access logs). Unless you follow a rabbit trail and the ownership/management of this 3rd party disinterested website reaches back to someone with some level of influence at Wells this would require a Legal or Emergency situation as defined by this sites Privacy Statement. Of course the statements are loosely written but I would have to believe that no site would simply turn over any log data based on a simple ask. With a subpoena or other court ordered directive sure. https://www.thelayoff.com/privacy.php

The only thing Wells could do is check the proxy logs for hosts connected to any Wells network to see who is accessing this site in which case they deserve to be slapped for that.

@cqz+1mFmMR61 The conspiracy theory posts of "THE owner of this site deleting posts to create a narrative" are the best. Don't know the rules, post some jibberish, post is deleted or hidden, queue PizzaGate. The world needs d-mb d-mbs like you to keep the intelligent on their high horses.

Just in case that ever happens, I make sure everything I say is true. Truth is a complete defense to any libel action. Fortunately, Wells Fargo provides a rich and consistent plethora of damaging and illegal behaviors from which I can choose to comment.

The only other risk is potentially losing my job. If that were to happen, I would have to own that, but my experience at Wells Fargo has been a great education in how NOT to manage a business.

For all the things I've written in Skype/Teams, unless you are on HR's radar, keep plugging away. If WF really cared they'd just put in controls to block access.

wouldn't doubt it. The owner of this site deletes posts that he doesn't like based on personal views, creating whatever narrative they want. Just look at JPM on this site, there's almost zero comments, no doubt because they reached out and paid the guy off.

As we are bound by applicable laws, we may disclose log data in order to comply with a legally enforceable subpoena, warrant, court order, or other judicial or administrative order

Assuming this site provides the IP addresses which would go against it's very existence, but who knows

I'd hope most are smart enough to use their own personal computers for this....but, humans. ;)
