the field was screaming that Zoom was out marketing us during the pandemic - CR on numerous occasions said the field was wrong and our "marketing" dept is doing a great job.....hmmmm.....webex was a verb before the pandemic, just sayin'........

Webex is a good product......and before the pandemic, was #1 in Enterprise. When the pandemic hit, Cisco could have EASILY made a "Webex lite" for consumers, and absolutely ki-led the market, and ki-led Zoom. Zoom wouldn't have stood a chance (Zoom is just a semi-copy of Webex anyway......created by ex-Cisco/Webex engineers).

But nooooooo........Cisco was too afraid of annoying their Enterprise customers with "free" Webex-lite consumer licenses. It was a massively bad decision, and they could have easily kept the Enterprise happy in other ways. I wasn't at Cisco at the time, but kept telling my old Cisco friends "why haven't you guys capitalized on this?!?". Baffling.

@1eel+1mFrIEqw Have you ever used Slack? I’d say it’s the market leader in many use cases. Having used all of the same tools, I can say it’s by far the easiest (and customizable) to use.

As someone who’s used WebEx, Zoom, and Teams in different companies I can honestly say WebEx is the superior product for the enterprise.

The fact that it’s losing market share to Teams which looks like it was designed for 5 year old kids to compare the drool running down their faces on live video feeds tells me the fault lies in either Cisco’s go to market strategy or pricing and licensing model.

Both domains of which solely lie with leadership. If you can’t win with a superior product, it’s time to make some changes at the top.

Hope all those that ghosted their former LR colleagues get what they deserve when they get their LR notice.

Name and shame them whenever you can. They deserve it.

Let's be honest, Webex is not that bad a product. Not in comparison to what competition has. It is good enough. The problem of Collaboration is not a product, it is senior leadership. But those on top of the pyramid haven't suffered any consequences for several quarters of negative results ! They chopped off a number of people for Christmas, non of them was decision maker, at least not on a strategic level.

RIP Webex. MS Teams, Zoom are just better products period. Go join Solaris, Netscape and Yahoo on the other side.

I call bullsh-t. They will not send out meeting invite during the earnings call.

@tjq+1mFrIEqw, they wait until just after the meeting ends.

When I got the axe in 2016, our manager sent a team email about an hr before the earnings call suggesting that everyone listen to it that afternoon and included the link to the livestream.

They immediately left the office for the day and disappeared online.

Within minutes of CR making the announcement that a LR of 5500 (or was it 6500?) employees was happening, our manager showed up online and I received a meeting invite for 8:30 AM the next morning with a subject of "1:1" and no details. They dropped offline w/in a couple of minutes and when I looked at calendars for the team, my manager had an 8-8:30, 8:30-9, and a 9-9:30 block of 3 "1:1's" and two other team members had the 8 and 9 time slots on their calendars. I immediately knew that they and myself were gone. I packed up my desk that night and got the news in the morning. The early birds were all watching our manager's door that morning to see who went in and seemed surprised that I had "figured it out" the night prior. Mo--ns.
