Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

If you needed a push, you got it

With so many complaining on here about how bad AT&T is these days (and don't get me wrong, I agree with most of it) this is the perfect push you needed to take your fate into your hands and leave on your own terms. I already made my decision. I'm not relocating. It'll take a while for this whole thing to get done, which is more than enough time to find a new job. I recommend others do the same thing.

If you are required to relocate more than 50 miles away from where you were initially hired unemployment benefits is an option. I resigned from AT&T in 2022. I applied and it was approved by my state's unemployment office even though AT&T attempted to dispute. Per my state's unemployment office, if an employee resigns or gets terminated for not relocating they are eligible for unemployment. The reason is At&T changed the term under which I was initially hired. If you receive a severance this may disqualify you from unemployment, but it depends. My situation was an anomaly in 2022 but it's basically what they are doing company wide now.

Yep, make them surplus you and at least unemployment may be an option if not severance. Don't make it easy on them. HR and support staff handling this exodus is going to be overwhelmed.

Still going to hang in for severance…as explained today on Corey’s call I “should” be eligible if they tell me my role moved and I refuse to move. Has to do with mileage. I’m a long ways from any of those locations. I refuse to voluntarily give up my 6 months severance. I feel like that’s what they want.

Everyone should take the generous moving allowance they’re offering. That’ll show them.

Another win for the Stank, no severance payout and headcount reduction too.

Good luck on your next endeavor, hopefully grass is greener.

Thank you for reacting exactly as I wanted you to. Sincerely, John stankey. PS can you empty your desk tomorrow morning and turn in your badge before lunch? It will look good on my day end headcount report tomorrow. Yippee, I'm so excited I could p-e on myself.
