Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

relax, we all die at the end anyway

Chill out and smoke a Doobie if needed. Hug someone you care about. Tell those you love that you love them. Do something nice for someone. Read a book. Listen to some calming music. Take a walk in the woods. Nothing about your life is permanent. Today is a gift you did nothing to truly deserve. Grab a beer, even if it's a bud light. You really want to waste your relatively nanosecond life in the universe worrying about this? Life goes on, until it stops. Then you either meet your maker, or cease to exist forever. Decide which fate you believe as true, and pick wisely.

See Dave Ramsey. The only somewhat acceptable debt = mortgage debt.

Yeah, it's easy to talk relaxation when you are living in mom's basement with no rent, directly on the bus line. No mortgage, no car payment, no gas expense, no electric payment, no taxes or insurance. No child support, no alimony.
I want some of that relaxation!

It's all about how comfortable you are before you kick the can.

“Many of the field techs that make the physical connections to customers that pay our salary are one, non fault accident or one hot pi-s test away from losing our job.”

Techs don’t pay our salary, they are an expense like everyone. Customers pay our salaries, period.

You will need to relocate, but thankfully unable to, thus saving a job for one that can.

Alright there BUDDHA. Not everyone has the luxury of sparking up when we feel a little bit of stress. Many of us are not keyboard, work from home, doing laundry and household chores at "work" warriors. Many of the field techs that make the physical connections to customers that pay our salary are one, non fault accident or one hot pi-s test away from losing our job.

The OP doesn't know true hardship. Hopefully they'll be lucky and stay that way.

Well, I learned some time ago after witnessing blunder after blunder after financial blunder by "leadership" there was absolutely nothing I could do to help the company. I might have as well be emptying the mop bucket on the Titanic overboard.
Furthermore I understand I can no more advise Captain Edward Smith to slow down on that transatlantic voyage that ended in tragedy. Too much hubris with Capt. Smith ( Sound familiar?) Therefore, I will dine on the finest plates and require seconds (Overtime) all the while checking out where the lifeboats are at.

Enron was solvent 12/01/2001 and was NOT 12/02/2001 AT&T has a massive amount of debt, 135 BILLION dollars. AT&T has about 1.5 times the debt of Eron in adjusted 2023 dollars.

Where is my "I just wet my pants because I heard the word debt" clown at?

"Um, go ahead and stick your head in the sand! I have a mortgage, car payment, credit card, school loans, and child support payments. I don't care to live on the street corner begging for cash."

It's not sticking your head in the sand. It's deciding where to spend your energy. This evening, I've spent my energy trolling this site while having a Budlight tall boy mainly to bring some levity to a serious situation that impacts peoples livelihood. There are things within your control and this is not one of them unless you are the Stink and if you are, you are not only horrible with AT&T's finances and decisions, but evidently can't handle your own personal finances and situations.
