What is the deal with Cisco hiring practices?

Perhaps it's just me or maybe just the ones I'm dealing with. But not one recruiter I've ever dealt with at Cisco nor hiring managers shows any dececency at all during the process.

Why ghost when you can spend about 5 seconds sending even a form letter informing people that they didn't get a job? Just disappearing and ignoring requests for updates is unprofessional and disrespectful.

I can understand not going into specific details if there is some concern about litigation, but a complete ghost is just sad.

The poster who mentioned the Cisco culture nailed it.

I know it's a tough market out there but I find out that you interview them as much as they interview you. It's basically like dating: if during the interview process, when they are supposed to be showing their best to interest you for the job they have these kind of disrespectful behaviors, it's time to run. It won't get better once you are there.

You dodged a bullet. RUN!

It's very indicative of work life at Cisco. Ghosting and ignoring coworkers is part of Cisco's culture.

Just some advice, after a few attempts to reach out to the recruiter, if no response, escalate to their manager.

The interview process is for both employer and employee to sell themselves to each other. When the employer shows it can't do it's job it tells you how you will be managed if you do get the job.

Even when the hiring process goes smoothly make sure the work you are being sold actually exists. Cisco is a revolving door for PhDs who were promised new development and then given nothing but low level bugs to fix and they're all out the door in well under a year.

There were lots of reasons that a once "seemingly promising opening" became ghosted. The main reason I think was the role got into on-hold/unknown without timeline situation. The hiring manager may try all he/she can to push the executives to give a go. It can be day to day or week to week, and it can also turn into "indefinitely" wait with glimpse of hope... The ball would stay in the Air for weeks (if not months) that no one can say one way or another. Many other companies did do the same. So, if there is no response, move on, if they want you, they will come back, and then it is your time to call the shot.

GHOSTED.
Tried several attempts to find out what occurred, no response. I spent a lot of valuable time and should have been given a brief response.
For all I know the job was cancelled. Just tell me. Is that too much to ask?

And that makes you regularly coming to this forum?

Cisco is known for posting & interviewing for jobs without funding. A VP needs to approve funding for the role in the final phase.

Could HR be posting fake jobs to build up their resume bank? It's a cr-p tactic but companies do this all the time to collect resumes for a job description to see what kind of talent is available, or to check off a box somewhere that they have tried to fill a job.
