Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Should I leave??

I have an opportunity to go but it’s so hard. I’ve spent many years here and many great relationships. But this place is a dumpster fire and feels like a sinking ship. Time to cut my loses or show mental fortitude and suffer through? What would you do?

@quu+1mH34x2g "Unfortunately, rule of 75 doesn’t get you anything now"

It's a $150,000+ jump for craft and CURRENTLY retiree health care benefits. If you weren't born with a silver spoon in your mouth, that's a lot of money for us mere mortals.

Please don't go. You are too valuable to the company.

Took the "voluntary" package in Dec. and left (after 28 yrs). Best thing I ever did. Have a new job that I enjoy going to (outside of the industry) and my stress level is essentially zero.

My resume is updated and I am interviewing. If nothing else for practice, being open about my current “in limbo” Job situation. There are jobs out there if you have qualifications. That said, I will wait until they officially inform me that my job is moving (which I believe it will), and I will in turn inform them that I am not moving. And due to the mileage involved, they will have to pay me my severance. I’m am not willing to voluntarily forfeit that, I have worked too hard for too long.

Leave immediately. The stress of changing jobs will be worth it in a month when you are busy at your new position.

I want to be one of the employees that fell through the cracks. One the company lost track of. I know there are some out there. Get paid, direct deposit, every two weeks with no responsibility required. Tell me how to get there please.

Jump fast. The Boat is on fire. Captain John is at the wheel and he's bad drunk and irrational, yet again. A band comprised of 6 evp's is on the top deck playing lively music for your listening enjoyment. Last call!!!

Re-posting part of my reply to another question
don't sit and hope that you can hide this one out or believe that your hard work and past success will save you or think my numbers are the best on my team and my manger likes me-surly they'll keep me.
There is only so much growth to be had-so to make the numbers work-cutting operating costs and efficiencies which in T speak means people is the focus...nothing is off the table and no organizations and no one is safe at this point smart money says don't get caught watching the paint dry, get your house in order-get your resume polished up, start networking and applying for jobs outside the company before you have to compete in your area with more even more laid off tech workers

No reason to stay. You will lose your skills if you have any or not learn new if you don’t. Staying here will backfire. You became a slave of T. They will use you and abuse you. You will be in constant fear of layoffs. Your life will be a nightmare. Do not sell your soul to the devil!!!

Milk it for as long as you can to. Don’t leave voluntary, get forced out with severance. In the background, keep your resume current and out feelers out there. For example, I work in ACE (wireless C&E) and I have already lined up employment with one of our many suppliers we use to build out our network. When the day comes after milking AT&T, I just move to become a supplier.

I would leave, especially if you have any pension left. Unless you are within a year or two of MR75 / retirement if take my money and run. This place is in free fall...

Unfortunately, rule of 75 doesn’t get you anything now…except a small telephone discount…sad but true so don’t let that impact your decision…

If you're not close to the modified rule of 75 you should leave.
