In all these threads the focus is about not being in a hub city and the possibility of relocation. I think it is safe to say that if you work in a hub city you are not safe. I don’t know what the definition of role is with respect to the announcement but I can see instances where a role will be consolidated from multiple hubs to fewer, or a single hub. For example, I have a team of folks in multiple hub cities. 3 locations have 1-2 members while one hub has several. I think it is not unreasonable for the company to say all members (in this case we do the same job) must be in fewer or a single
hub, likely the one that currently has the most people.

We don't want you in our hub cities. Stay out you are not welcomed.
Quote unquote: "No one is safe".
If your a manager in Dallas today, will you get preferential treatment? Will they keep existing Dallas managers in place or will some be displaced by interlopers from other cities or hub locations?
I've always been considered a blue chipper among my peers and my manager. Does this count for anything? Will I be considered of greater value than my peers, when asked to relo to Atl or Dal?
By definition, everyone who is not at 208 S. Ackard St in Dallas is remote to some degree from someone in their chain of command.
That's not what this is about. This is an effort to drive people off the payroll quickly and without mass layoffs attracting media and investor attention.
Follow the money, or in this case the cash flow.
Stankey is hopeful no one will relo to any hub location. He wants you and your salary gone, the sooner, the better. GET OUT!
Bingo! What I’m hearing too. Just because you live in a hub or work location, doesn’t mean you’re safe. Job function may move and you MAY get asked to relocate, doesn’t mean they will relocate you. They are only offering relocation to certain people. For the rest, it’s going to be on your dime. If they even ask you to go at all.
I get the feeling in Stankey's mind TW failed because everyone was not co-located in a hub
I totally agree with the poster. You are not safe. The FAQ seems to indicate that being part of a hub now is no guarantee that your team will be there. I have asked about hub locations in other posts because I'm just trying to figure out how much time I might have here at AT&T, but eventually, nobody is safe. I hate the way Stankey/Legg refer to all of this in their emails... by certain dates, we should be "living in our designations". Ha. I am not moving anywhere and am living in my own designation. I know that means I will be terminated; it's just a matter of when. I do wonder if they will stick to this plan at this point since it is so incredibly disruptive. I guess time will tell. I am not holding on to any false hope, in any case.

I think it is unreasonable
It’s what they’re doing.
But asking me to move to cities to do the job I’m doing remotely now is silly
If I do t collaborate , if I don’t pour myself into training others now, how does being in person change that.
Does mean long lunches with coworkers. So there is that
No one is safe these days.
No you are not safe even if I’m a HUB. Example HR was quickly deemed a ‘National Function’ via an email sent out by Angela Santone shortly after the Stankey email. All employees must be in Atlanta or Dallas even if they live in a HUB location.
Unfortunately I have to agree with OP. For non field/customer location facing positions, Job function is going to be the biggest determination. If there’s a desire to have those same functions collocated doesn’t matter it a team is located at multiple Hub cities.
The relocation to hub locations will save the company money versus laying off cause they will not have to pay you a severance if you decline to move.
