There is a lot of stuff missing. What about security? What if a company wants data behind a door operated with a keycard?
Anyhow, the software for work-at-home will improve, and probably will have better collaboration. On the other side of the coin, commercial real estate is tanking, which will result in rents reducing in cost. That will result in less impetus to get rid of the real estate.
I think all of this will change over time, and a company's view of work-at-home will change as well. I don't think any of this is set in stone, except for the commercial real estate situation. A lot of it can't be converted into condos, or whatever else they are babbling about.

So you're saying that all the complaining shows they hit a nerve and the decision is having the desired effect?
Why are people still posting to complain about being in the office 3-5 days? Forcing people back to the office is just a smokescreen, the goal is getting people to leave the company!
You need to shut the front door. Gartner is so not a qualified authority.
