Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Interesting layoff criteria once again

It seems once again that being an a-s-kisser pays off at Verizon and being a hard worker doesn't.

Gone are the times of loyalty matters (raised in a different time), glowing reviews. This is a pattern of employee turnover with Verizon, planned obsolescence for cheaper oversea's labor. Good? Bad? It is what it is, they just have newer less experienced people willing to submit to abuse for a cheaper price. Its about money, I am thinking the heroes that are left will see at some point, don't waste time or energy on those virtues. Become just as hard line as those corporate administrators are, consider nothing less than reciprocating in kind. Sure, there will be people wanting you to be kinder and gentler, but they just haven' been exposed to it as long as some of us, they will get there eventually. Enjoy the ride while you can. You wait they will be whine bagging in a few months because of what they lost and what they can't do now, putting pressure on the remainder to produce more with less. Part of working for Verizon, take the money follow their example of reciprocated loyalty. From what I read anyway, customer support has gone down hill (not that it was every great anyway), it will simply get worse with call centers overseas. Verizon is on a downhill slide anyway, it started years ago. We will see how much further they can milk from sagging share prices.

I have had glowing performance reviews and not a single complaint from my manager. I was tagged as a high performer. Got let go today. No body values a hard worker.

@edu+1mM7BLzO is correct.

Reality in the Corporate World: Everyone is considered a Line Item Expense due to the Cost of Salary and Benefit's. It does Not matter where you work. You are an Accounting Line Item Number as an Employee of that company.

@edu+1mM7BLzO - if "...Performing, every year, recognition etc..." is you, then take heart and enjoy the time off while you can! Get ready for your next gig -- it's right around the corner. Better times ahead!

I was let go today. There is no criteria. Performing, every year, recognition etc. doesn’t matter in the end. Stock prices do. I now understand more than ever, everyone at some point is just a number. No matter how hard you work.
