Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Random Thoughts

Remember when IT went completely outsourced and were "offered" new roles with the vendor at lower pay and less benefits to avoid severance.......... No Service hiring for a year and everyone sent on nice work trips to exotic locations.

Maybe if we're lucky they'll keep some people on for the fat cat customers they actually need to keep. Whatever it is I'd guess it's a way to reduce severances payoffs for the final axe even if it doesn't fall tomorrow.

Lots of SMs out "sick" today, but they'll be in tomorrow for the fall out if rumors are true. Should have unionized when you had the chance.

@1dzn+1mMwVF80 and by rebadging versus just RIFing and going to a managed services company, Vz thought they'd get their cake and eat it too. Dump the employees but keep the knowledge base. That backfired on them when almost 600 of those employees said kiss my bu-t and give me my ESP. That being said, I am honestly quite shocked that (in my area anyway) all of those who accepted the rebadge are still employed by InfoSys three years later. Thought for sure they'd be dumped when the two year guarantee was complete. And just look at the state our systems are in. And you know they'll renew that contract this year because you really think Infosys would do a knowledge transfer to another company? Whole thing was a big cluster.

In 2017 IT rebadged most of the Data Center employees to IBM. On 12/31/2018 IT rebadged ~1500 employees to Infosys. At first they were not offered VSP, but due to the backlash at several town halls explaining the rebadging, including one where police were called in after things got nasty, the company changed policy and offered VSP to the people that were being rebadged to Infosys. When Shankar originally announced the rebadging on the fateful Monday 9/24 8am call for invited employees only, he stated there would be more in the future. After concluding the rebadge was a total cluster, the company just reverted to RIFs rather than more rebadging.

IT was never "completely outsourced".

If you're referring to 2019, IT wasn't completely outsourced, and emps had a choice - go with the firm or take the ESP, which was a lucky happenstance.
