Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Goodbye Verizon

I’ve been at Verizon for 7 years. Would have been 8 come this January, and I am in shock. I’m really considering leaving but I’m taking the weekend to weigh the pros and cons. My team for the most part is thinking about taking the severance package but I’m curious to see how Verizon will hold up as a company moving forward.

Gotta work harder, a lot of folks got complacent to do the bare minimum, stay on warnings, and now wanna be upset they are outperformed by outsourced agents.

The company will be fine. People keep saying that customers don’t want people overseas but the results show that much cheaper outsourced labor is performing on par with us laborers and surveys say they are satisfying customers just as well for much cheaper.

Take the package and get the h*ll out. I’ve survived the VSP and now this latest RIF. The talent and number of bodies lost, just means increased workload and stress. Not worth it.

for the question about getting another job in Vz - you can select the severance or find a position. if you are interviewing for something, they will try to work with you to get it done before the cut off date.

hey OP, I hear you. Tough to decide in one sense. Since you've been here over 7 years, you were here for VSP, so if you haven't read this yet from Inc. magazine - open letter to us from them - suggest you do. They published it October 2018 with VSP going on at the time. Not easy to read but think of it as tough love. And think about what's been going on since, inside here - and whether or not the predictions and characterizations have been coming true. Best of luck!!

Man I wasn’t even offered a package. I don’t want even to stay in this bs. No one even knows whats happening. I was told my roll would not be impacted but then multiple sups in my org got the axe like an hour ago. Cmon axe man my head is still here.

Verizon still hasn't recovered from the brain drain that happened with the VSP. I don't think they will fare better this round either. The grass isn't always greener, but I would expect VZ to be slightly worse.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
