Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Anyone like a little Dave Chapelle humor?

Alright, cats and kittens, gather 'round 'cause Uncle Dave's got a joke for ya. So, picture this: a group of AT&T managers, right? These poor souls dedicated their entire lives to the company, thinkin' they were the big shots, callin' the shots. But then, outta nowhere, comes the big boss man with a wicked grin.

He looks 'em dead in the eye and says, "Hey, fellas, here's the deal. We've got not one, not two, but nine hub locations. Take your pick or hit the bricks!" Can you imagine the look on their faces? It's like they just saw a ghost.

Now, I don't know 'bout you, but I can't help but laugh my a-s off at the absurdity. These poor managers, thinkin' they were kings of the castle, only to realize they were just another pawn in the corporate game. It's a classic case of "guess who's laughin' now?"

But hey, let's give 'em a little credit, too. They probably mastered the art of fake smiles and nodding like nobody's business. It's all part of that corporate dance, baby. So next time you see an AT&T manager, just remember, they're like a lion in a zoo—lookin' fierce, but deep down, they're trapped.

Keep it real, my friends, and never forget to laugh at life's little ironies. After all, a good chuckle is the best medicine. Stay woke, stay funny, and keep spreadin' the love. Peace!

What the OP said is true. It is not pleasant, but not much about AT&T is these days.

Not funny. 90% of “managers” are not decision makers or supervisors. They are individual contributors who do not have the ability to say “not my job” when asked to do the ridiculous and absurd. Like when they were forced to get a practically untested vaccine or get fired. Move to another state with two week’s notice or lose your job. Lose a week’s vacation for being with the company for 20 years so it can be “fair” for the 10 year employee to have the same. OP, don’t think the union employees are exempt. How many call centers did they successfully close long before Covid and no one had their backs - not the Union, or they’d still be here. That was wrong and so is this. Show some support for what is right - it isn’t that people have to come to “an office.” It’s how it was handled, miscommunication, confusion, and uncertainty of people who were probably offered the flexibility of the roles where they are when they were hired because they don’t do shift work, they work around the clock, many without being paid overtime, while on “vacation.”

I confess, this was written by a senior manager. Just trying to have a little humor to process the challenge of it. Please don’t blame a union rep.

So when your pool is closed due to lack of resources and facilitators, little fishy, you won’t have a place to swim either. This chum contaminates all waters.

It's all one big food chain. Bigs
eat littles. I guess that's funny? Keep swimming until you die.

This reaks of a union rep. And while I agree that there are some bad, maybe even horrible coaches, the vast majority of people this impacts are individual contributors. You are obviously harboring some weird inferiority complex about management, no one cares about the chip on your shoulder. These managers are just people who are capable of doing more and wanting a better opportunity. It is not a good look to get pleasure from others misfortune.
Now move along, Kiddo, the adults are talking.
