What happens if you transition to a lower grade job than what you started out with? Does your salary decrease etc?

Wow, seems like a lot of tearing people down to build yourselves up, commenters. Given overlap in grade ranges it is not far fetched to move down a grade without a change in pay, if still within the new pay range. At a lower grade OP would be higher on the range and could anticipate smaller to no raises once raises resumed. Suggest warm line engagement.
You need to ask them if they will consider grade X in the role….. if it’s only one grade difference usually they will.
Never heard of IR to demotion, just IR to unemployment.
LOL, the mere question explains why OP was demoted or is considering demotion. What a fcking id--t.
Depends on your location, EU employment rights protects your salary so even if your role/grade is demoted the salary has to remain the same.
I have seen it only once but his grade was dropped by 1 level and pay remained the same.
Less stress, same money was the joke at the time.
It puts your name on the top of the list of people to be laid off. Even Intel doesn't want people going backwards in their career trajectory. The fact that you have to ask this d-mb question shows that you are either a troll, an id_ot, or both.
@OP: no, you'll actually get a raise for being so self aware that you're incompetent at your GL, and instead you'll be promoted to management!
Ladies and gentlemen, your Intel talent as exemplified by OP. Can you imagine having to review the code or RTL of Captain Obvious above? INTC market cap is going to 0.
Usually when you take a grade demotion you take a pay cut. I mean, that is the whole point of the demotion, isn't it?
Yes, of course!
