What about Birmingham? It was a Bellsouth headquarters way back. Sounds like it will not be a hub city.

Take a look at the demographics of the Atlanta population. Then look at the ESG requirements corporations must meet to get loans from financial institutions. Always follow the money. This is why Bud Light, Disney, Target, et al are bleeding customers to promote the agendas of 1% of the population. And Atlanta is full of those 1%'ers. Recommend you move outside the perimeter if you are one of the 99%

I long for the days of Hugh Jacks. BellSouth was an awesome company. I loved every minute of it. Blessed to have been part of a great company and to work with the cream of the crop. Going from that to work for this bunch has been painful. Thank God i saved my money. I just hate it for the people who are left. My bags are packed. Hang in there folks. Keep your integrity even though the don’t have any.

They were looking for the least desirable city to tell people to relocate too so they’d quit instead

RE: BELL South v SBC v AT&T…I can only relate my experience as an employee in an SBC wireless (SBMS) market through the 90’s. It was a fun place to work, local markets and leaders in those markets had autonomy to a certain extent. Lots of barbecues, Holiday parties and stuff like that. Things changed a bit with the advent of Cingular but it was still a fun place to work. After SBC acquired the failing phone company (AT&T), and somehow let a lot of those leaders get their tentacles into the wireless business…everything changed and after a relatively short period of time, it was no longer a fun place to work.

Bellsouth was a much better company to work for. Things went down hill fast after they where purchased in 2007 by SBC. From talking to many SBC employees over the years that's around the same time that things changed for them as well. I guess the leadership got a swollen ego from being the biggest phone company after gobbling up Bellsouth and AT&T and assumed they would never fail, but as we all know now they did.

Gotta chime in here. If Bellsouth had bought AT&T in 2007, we would all be much better off. Better leadership, better processes, better company. It used to be said that the reason Bellsouth was not a Fortune 100 company wouldn't because their leadership wouldn't do what it took to get there, specifically Bellsouth wouldn't sc--w over it's employees.

It’s possible that they’ve negotiated a large tax incentive for bringing 1000’s of high paying jobs back and in office.

Simple answer: there are a large number of employees and teams located there. Plus Atlanta is one of the top tech cities in the US.

Up until recently it was where the Mobility BU was headquartered as such many organizations still have the majority of their workers located in Atlanta. It is still the Cricket HQ and will continue to be. Its also where the connected car labs are.

Also own or lease a lot of real estate that, unlike New Jersey, has not yet been successfully offloaded.

Jeremy Legg never committed to moving to Dallas. He is still living in Atlanta.

This is an old southern telecom company - Bellsouth and SBC thus
GA and TX. and this company could be run with less than a 1/4 of the employees easy. And, outsource all blue collar and customer service jobs 100%...get down to minimal employee counts

Atl is centrally located in the SE and many companies are headquartered in the Atl metropolitan area which is attracting top talent in the US

T owns a lot of real estate there.

I believe it is because a couple of executives live there.
