Anyone have any experience working in the credit card underwriting department? I was laid off from mortgage a few months ago and was considering taking a role with credit card underwriting. Not too sure about this area.

Those jobs will be moving to india
I don’t mean to be disrespectful, because the same could probably be said about my job by people who don’t understand the complexities, but doesn’t it seem like that job could be easily automated?
I have a really good friend in that department. I have heard when they look to hire they have been receiving a couple hundred internal candidate resumes each time and only interview around four. Good luck! One of the few areas of the bank that is actually growing, and growing a lot.
Here we go again with the "underwriters will soon be obsolete". Been hearing it for 20+ years now.... 😂 We all know that one person who loves to say it!!
India is gearing up to take on underwriting.
I would steer far clear of that type of role if you are looking for longevity or career opportunities.
AI is going to render any credit underwriter obsolete in the next few years (if not sooner). Think about it. AI is cheaper than human capital. Charlie wants to pocket that cash. Use your severance period to explore other fields. Leave this dinosaur park behind.
It'll help you take a certified medical assistants certification as anyone with a pulse can get a credit card from this place.
Let’s see, Wells shrinking the Mortgage business and growing the credit card business. Do the math!!!
As long as Charlie thinks introducing new credit cards will make him look like he’s doing something you should be okay
Same sh-t. Would be a bad move
