RTO to get our quality back?

I am surprised that there are so many who think that RTO is needed to get our quality back. I would like that to be true but the arguments I hear are not very convincing.

Yes, but a lousy engineer can appear much better in the office with social skills (claiming credit, shifting blame, whisper campaigns, sucking up)

And youngsters who need watching and training up are more likely to be mentored in the office. Many don’t have the experience to know they need guidance (they don’t know what they don’t know)

Here is a pro tip for those on both sides of the RTO/WFH debate that are over passionate about it....a lousy engineer or any other lousy employee position will be lousy whether they are working from home or working in the office. They suck either way.

Yeah, because quality was sooooooo good when we were all back in the office pre covid. Delusional management.

I'll put in upwards of 10-11 hours WFH, just because it's a pleasure to work from home all day. In the office, I'll skate after six, and put in maybe two when I get home.

If you want ideal results, don't offer subpar conditions. It'll cost you 20-30% in productivity.

When production and engine testing went back to work, HR conducted surveys of only people at home, they said things were going GREAT. No one cared about the people on site. I said it then, when quality goes out the window, your "single variable" {management}, will blame it on COVID...

@1tdu+1mTABfPU Unfortunately those products will also reflect the multiple layoffs/restructuring and significant offshoring that occurred under Hackett and Farley. Hard to isolate to a single variable.

Consulting firms purpose it to tell hiring firms what they want to hear. They spin the data that way.

Studies and data done by many consulting firms has proven that working level employees having significant face time with management improves the company's bottom line. In the case of Ford, this would be improved quality.

Funny if you look at the vehicles that were recalled you will find the bulk of them were launched before COVID. This reminds me of DEMING 85% of quality problems are management driven. So this sounds like yes you guessed it .. They are blaming work form home as root cause.
Sorry to bust their bubbles but LL5 up to BF need to look in the mirror for causal factors. not blame WFH.
If I were a Wall Street Analyst I would ask BF & JF if the bulk of your recalls were prior to COIVID then what has WFH have to do with this?
Again POS JF blaming everyone but himself. Guy is a loser.

My LL6 disappears every day at 11 for 3 hours. If he was forced back in the office he would probably try to contribute and that would negatively affect quality. So, there's an argument against going back in.

People have been working in the plants, that’s where putting bolts gets missed.
