Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Legal binding to remain in state

What if someone has a legal parental agreement binding them to the state they reside in? In the parenting agreement (50/50 custody) say it states that the parent has to live within 25 miles of the other parent. What does someone do in this case? What will AT&T do for someone in that position?

“ Call an attorney.“

Why?

What legal remedy would a lawyer be able to provide them?

The company is not named in the custody agreement.

Not trying to be harsh but some people are really delusional about the company’s obligations with regard to your personal problems.

Bad place to be.

Quit job and maybe loose custody, or move and loose custody.

But it's not a company problem.

Since no one has given you a legit response, I’ll chime in.

Here’s the unfiltered truth: it’s going to depend. Are you performing a job function deemed essential? Could someone else on the team take over your work? How well liked by your higher ups are you? Would they be willing to go to bat to keep you? That’s really what’s going to determine if you’re going to get a remote work designation or not. I know we all think we perform some critical task, but really the majority of us do not. So what is likely going to happen unless you are one of the favorites of the bosses is you’re going to get let go. Sorry, but that’s the truth.

Go work someplace else and live a happy life. T will never care about you or your family.

Employment is at will. The company isn’t obligated to do anything different due to your own legal matter. You have a choice to relocate not a mandate. It’s all your choice.

With that said, I would discuss options with your manager but you may not have other options. Quit, move or renegotiate your custody agreement. They get renegotiated ALL the time (for a price).

OP if you're in that situation you are SOL. The company is not obligated to help you honor your divorce decree. I lived that for 15-20 years and stressed each time I was threatened with surplus
