Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Life after AT&T

I think at this point it is safe to say that all of us should be actively working on a Plan B. IF we are lucky enough to survive these next 6 months, it won’t be long before our number is up. For the first time in my 20 year career with this company, I have very little confidence in the future of this company. I have spent 18 of my 20 years in sales, trying to figure out next steps. Not trying to be negative, just feeling genuinely worried and unsure of our longevity. For those of us not yet ready for retirement, what is everyone looking at as a Plan B?

Find a sugar daddy. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it.

Sadly, this is happening in a lot of other telcos and MNOs and affiliate vendors as well. Maybe not as bad as AT&T but like somebody already mentioned, preempt now because the job market is about to get worse.

This company is not the same since Stinkey took over. He has no regard for the employees that have been loyal for 20+ years. Little by little it becomes a cr-ppy company to work for. Randall made some mistakes (TMobile) but the company was never this bad. Some analyst feel they are positioning the company to be sold.

Not the same company it used to be. More and more just a number for a company that just cares about numbers. Not the first time they are throwing away talent just because of location.

That's a solid plan. Act now before you have to compete with other employees that will be impacted en masse. As far as pay, at&t is generally on the low end relative to others who hold same job title in the industry. If you're in sales, target distys like tessco, talley, graybar, anixter, or other oem like nokia, Ericsson, amphenol, etc. There is life outside of att. Good luck.

Probably take a lower paying job somewhere but if that’s happening I’m definitely getting out of sales. I see people in my org doing well and have no clue what they are selling anymore since we can’t see peoples orders but I know how people here like to do shady things and always seem to get away with it
