Freezer/cooler shrink

Whenever I do freezer/cooler audits I'm always missing tons of items. I keyed out 20k in seafood and cat 44 a few days ago. Was missing almost 100 king crab legs... They want me to get my peeps to check in trucks or top 5 shrink, but how's that gonna help when people are just walking out the door with those items? We all know the DC's are sh-t and fu-k up left and right. They can't even stack pallets correctly. Obviously they aren't putting EVERYTHING on the pallets to send to us. But if your club gets in 15 pallets of freezer freight almost everyday with sometimes 1 associate working in there how are they supposed to check in the truck and stock? 😂

King crab, snow crab, and Lobster gets stolen all the time. They will walk out with trays of steaks as well.

Same in produce. 1 in 4 cases were missing one package. That's how the dc make their bonus. Pass on the shrink to the clubs

Between member theft & the dc shorting items, it is possible for you to lose that amount in seafood.
have you seen the price of some of these items?
we have caught a few restaurant owners recently stealing crab legs, lobster tails jumbo shrimp, etc..... they were doing just what a previous poster described. emptying out boxes of merchandise then filling it with seafood. no telling how long they had been doing it.
unfortunately it will continue because their membership wasn't revoked.

Correct. When the company did all the job eliminations and restructures in Receiving and Claims they no longer deemed it necessary to detail receive any DCs. Freezer/Cooler, Meat/Produce and dry DC detail receiving went away when they decided to eliminate the multitude of positions. We were told that the amount of payroll that would be saved by doing so would far outweigh the amount of shrink incurred from missing freight and product.

It’s not the receiving associates job to audit the truck. They are to unload, check to make sure that the pallets are labeled with the proper club number and that’s it. The freezer cooler and meat and produce associates are responsible for making a copy of the manifest and then checking in the load.

From what I'm reading in the post. And doesn't take anyone smart to realize if you got 20K and seafood and you had to scan out. They're bigger problem you have what seem to me is your receiving doc people have in their mind their only job is just to unload the truck. Looking at paperwork and confirming what you actually have on the pallet that just came off the truck. And doesn't take a genius to figure out if you got 20K and seafood missing that you had to scan out in reality that would be numerous pallets of seafood! Yes I do agree with some people you will lose some to shrink but not that much! Again it starts with your receiving people doing the right things they got this idea I got five and six trucks I ain't got time to check everything! Another thing you need to do is hold your receiving people accountable you do know they sign for the trucks right? Another big issue is the DC not putting everything on pallets and short-changing you meaning they're not sending you everything! But again you're receiving people are supposed to catch that 😂 so I would go back and have a meeting with my receiving people and tell them if you unload the truck and you sign for it and all the product is not there and you will be held accountable. Problem solve

SMH !!! " Home Office and the powers that be " have created this mess !
why then should the associates feel any empathy ? Just continue to let merchandise walk out the door ! It will continue to be a losing battle , so why should anyone care ?Answer me that !!!

It’s most definitely scan & go or as I like to call it, Steal & Go. They invited people to rob them blind. Geniuses! You must need a really big brain to sit behind a desk and make d-mb a-s ideas up. 🙄

Auditing trucks is a waste. No one has time for that. Shrink is the cost of doing business and when your own DC can’t get their sh-t together we shouldn’t suffer for it. Remember the audit team? Hmm, yeah that was a really smart move to get rid of them. Not.

We have members cutting open large box items at our club. Taking out what’s inside and filling it with more expensive items. They even use rolls of tape from office supply isle. Most of the time it’s boxes of vendor chips. They dump them between the pallets in the isle.
