I am current a Business execution consultant and there is a guy on my team who is a senior lead business execution consultant. I don’t know what she even does. If I apply internally do I have chance?

@aeo+1mV2M3mG Spamming applications to every position at that level is not a great way to move up. Especially now that it’s a lot more obvious to hiring managers.
Yeah you’re not gonna jump the lead position and become senior lead. Your best bet is to apply for the lead position and develop a relationship with the recruiter. Even if you don’t get that position, they’ll help you find another. Generally speaking, you don’t want to spend more than five years in one role unless that’s your retirement role.
I’ve seen a few posts where people don’t know why they aren’t being promoted after 10 or 20 years. If you’ve been in that one position that long the assumption is usually you don’t want to grow which is okay. Nothing wrong with it but you’re not exactly communicating I want to move up.
Not to sound discouraging but I know a lot of people have struggled to even get an interview as they tried to go from lead to senior lead. It sounds like mostly at the senior lead level you have to know someone to get the job. A lot of the people that got the title are not necessarily doing more than others who are below them on the same team and it’s really become a pretty political title (at least in some groups).
I'm a lead and have been applying for senior leads since January. About 100 total. So far 4 screens, no 2nd interviews. 20+ years experience
You can get there but it will take time! Typically you’ll jump one level at a time so business execution consultant to senior…then to lead…then to senior lead. Good luck!

It would be a 3 level jump and likely over the 20% cap, so no chance.
