This is definitely an employee purge. People, if you’re unhappy just leave. I was being used by this company. Paid much less than my peers, but knew more. I took my marbles to another company where I am valued and appreciated. Take the leap and you won’t be disappointed.

Are you fkin blind, d-mb, stupid, and ignorant?
There is NO WAY in the universe you can see this as anything but an employee purge to cover incompetence by leadership.
Covid production and WFH was a God send to this sheet hole of a company.
Firing all OOR/ out of region sales teams since ‘you’re pulling out of footprint ‘ last November was disgusting. Top 10 sales teams and managers were FIRED!! Oh sorry….laid off in a restructuring, anyone think it’s amazing that Meta, and all other companies lay off tens of THOUSANDS of employees …and T’s disgusting treatment of their employees and layoffs goes unreported.??? It’s only on sites like this that the TRUTH gets told.
Anyone that doubts or discounts the true feelings is just stupid, a level 3+ EXEC getting perks, or just here to try to lie their way into changing the truth

Warning this will be long - and it is meant to be helpful.

140K before bonus is decent money in some cities. Dallas and St Louis for example are both N2 cities and ATL as well. I spent a long time in STL before moving to Dallas, so I cannot comment/compare on other locations ATL, Chicago Suburbs are N3, and San Ramon N4.

Taxes like personal property on autos, state and city tax (1%) are more in MO. TX doesn't have a state income tax, so you will get a 5% or 6% raise if going from STL to Dallas. Real Estate taxes in the Dallas area are very high in some of the suburbs. Housing prices in Dallas are significantly higher now and more than STL overall. If you move and want to buy on your 140K salary(assuming you don't have a spouse making a good salary or some nest egg), you will likely have to move to a suburb 30+ miles from HQ downtown (unless you are ok with living in transitional areas with high crime). Rents on decent apartments near the office are high and decent 1 Bedrooms were going for 1700+ a month close to the office(they may be higher now). Now, the money for gas and time you will save, may make that a good option if you don't have kids. Traffic is unreal in Dallas compared to St. Louis at least. Outside of DART, public transportation is nearly non-existent. I've heard ATL is terrible for traffic too.. Commute times if you leave say after 6:30am will probably average 1 hour(30 mi from the office), and if there is an accident, you may get there by 8:00am if you are lucky. Same thing, if you don't leave the office by 3pm, your commute time will be over an hour. Of course, getting a toll pass may help depending on where you live.

I know AT&T moved HQ back to Dallas in 2008, but it was a while (2012) before L3-L5 started moving down there at least in my org. Those coming from NJ/CA made out like bandits because the money they made on the sale of their houses in NJ was significant, houses in NJ were much higher and the housing prices in Dallas were relatively cheap. They were basically able to move from a 2K sq ft house, to a 4K+ sq ft house that costs less. But, people moving from Atlanta even L5s were shocked by the prices of anything within 10 miles of the office and most I know landed in places like Euless, Frisco, McKinney, ect. All of those areas have exploded and the housing prices have increased significantly in the last 8-10 years because many companies have moved folks. Couple that with folks selling a home and then trying to buy with the interest rates today. 140K won't go very far down there.

A couple of more things. In STL, I know a lot of folks send their kids to private schools. From what I know, this as not a thing in Dallas. So, you may offset the higher real estate taxes if you aren't paying for private school tuitions. Those areas tend to have good public schools.

Anyone with a family really needs to do some significant research before uprooting even those near MR75. This is purely financial and doesn't account for disrupting your kids schools/lives or maybe your spouse/partners job. Let's say you lose 200-300K on your lump sum if you don't move because you weren't MR75. But, you are in a position to get a comparable paying position in your current location. Figure out the costs say over 5 years. If your costs go up 20K more a year due, that's 100K. It doesn't totally offset the loss in pension, but it may make leaving before MR75 a less bitter pill to swallow especially because you won't be in Dallas. Lastly, like many commenters have pointed out, you don't have any guarantees after moving. I guess the only good thing about getting laid off in Dallas compared to maybe a place like STL is that the job market from what I can tell is still very good there. If you are making 140K and already living in Dallas and have for a while, great. But, it just really isn't that much money down there.

What world are you in?

AT&T is going through drastic changes. These changes are haphazardly communicated. Or communicated only to specific bu

This site, for once, IS NOT filled with troll posts and bitter former employees. Rather much good info is here l. And a list of people just trying to find out what is going on here

Don’t worry at some point we shall return to the usual “remember when we tried to buy T-Mobile and it ruined the company”

@fof+1mVIdYFX Here's what to get: a self-financed relocation to a city that requires not only employee but family to change children's schools, careers or jobs of spouses, or choose between institutionalizing or bringing along elderly dependents who don't understand what's happening, all that constitutes a big pay cut.

You might be single and unattached so hey, get me some boxes and a U-haul. No big deal. For people with decades of loyal service with established lives in their communities, it is a big deal. And effectively it's a big pay cut from $140K. In his cold logic Stankey knows this. Stankey counts on it. It's an out for him after years of poor service that would have shown up in his annual reviews as CEO, had he really been subject to that kind of evaluation from the Board. He gets to pick his evaluators. We don't.

Now if you start talking level six or Legg or Stankey money, hey, no big deal, see you in Dallas.
