Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Branch Managers

I’m posting this out of curiosity if anyone else is experiencing this with their branch managers. My branch manager constantly takes over an hour lunch breaks and leaves early EVERY DAY between 330-430pm. You would think since she’s salary she would be expected to at least work a full 40 hours a week and this is most definitely not the case. Is this normal for branch managers?

This is the Wells Fargo way. Our manager has not been in the office for 2 months. Just sends out emails and throws in a zoom call every month. Disgusting management at Wells Fargo!!!!

Branch mgrs are just given talking points and expectations. They don’t actually lead or manage anyone. Half of them have pronouns in their emails so that tells you more than enough 😂

It's not just branch managers; middle managers get away with everything. They barely work, pretty much just forward emails, approve pto and your hours.

BM here. It’s normal. I think I’m one of the only BMs in my district to work open to close every day and 2-3 saturdays per month. Most others that I know take extended lunches and leave early most days.

I came from another bank where you couldn’t get away with that kind of stuff (much higher accountability) and I’d stress out too much worrying about the branch to not be there like I’m supposed to be. As others have mentioned though, with performance ratings being so messed up now it’s much easier to see how people choose to do this

Believe it or not, things used to be even worse. Decades ago, a branch manager would haul off and hit an employee, with or without a valid reason.

Not just branch managers. Everyone who is able to get away with it. Why try for “exceeds expectations” if it’s not possible to do so?

I’ve only been with the company for over a little over a year. I was curious if this is the norm or not and apparently it is. Our DM is constantly coming to the branch every month to critique the employee’s performances. It’s bad enough we have our branch manager mouth breathing down our backs. I’m new to the banking industry and came from travel and hospitality thinking the no weekends and federal holidays off thing would be nice, but have come to find out this industry is 10x more stressful.

Branch managers are just overpaid baby sitters who get managed by even more overpaid overglorified babysitters. This entire industry is a scam brah.

Of course it is normal. Where have you been. Our manager is MIA 90 percent of the time. Never works on Fridays. Hammers on the RTO BS but does not lead by any example.
