Refresh Your Workplace Skills--Training to help us through!

The how and why we work portal has a training course for "Refreshing Your Workplace Social Skills".

This LinkedIn course, which probably cost AT&T one year's salary for one of us, has a chapter on the importance of "Empathy at Work."

The example given is, and I'm not kidding, is about the presenter having to work from home "before it was commonplace" and her boss was not empathetic. "It should not have been a big deal, and his response caused me a lot of stress."

Right on, Marielle. This should not be a big deal. Could you pass that along to Jeremy and John?

The training put forward on how-and-where-we-wwork (handw3) to placate us through all this actually uses 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 a 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧 as an example of a workplace skills.

You can't make this stuff up. If it wasn't so disruptive and cruel, it would almost be entertaining.

Somebody should have vetted the course before posting it, but of course they probably went home at 5 and didn't get to it.

"Outside techs work till the jobs done most the time"

No kidding. We're working outside in the rain, sleet, or snow when there's an outage until the job is done or deemed too dangerous until the weather improves. What are these desk jockey's excuse when we need bureaucratic barriers removed?

Outside techs work till the jobs done most the time, or until the customer leaves and it’s no accessed. Thats why there is wholesale elimination of management jobs, no work ethic, the free trophy generation. Work harder on your new gig.

The video is actually pretty good. It highlights many of the reasons a decision was made to have everyone RTO to ensure consistent productivity.

Another chapter is about "setting boundaries" and what, pray tell, are those boundaries?

"Commit to work hours and don't let work interfere with your family time." "Set away messages when doing deep work." "Set boundaries with your family and keep work and home life separate." "Don't work weekends."

This video talks specifically about managing the situation when working at home. A little "self-awareness" by AT&T might have avoided posting a video that gives tips on the very thing we won't be allowed to do. It's embarrassing and a waste of time. Even my middle schooler thinks it's funny.
