Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

RTO isn't just a 'return to what it was'

For hundreds of people in the King of Prussia, PA office, it's a return to an office in a DIFFERENT CITY (Wilmington, DE). For many of us the commute went from 15 minutes to nearly over an hour when typical traffic is factored in. Many people purchased homes near the old office, only to have the rug pulled out from under them.

That UOP person still hasn't returned your stapler yet have they? Please tell us were you work so we can avoid the basement and make sure you don't have any matches.

As new owners, think like an owner and get initiatives on the proxy statement for a vote at the annual meeting. That’s how we change things. Activism begins with getting initiatives on the ballot for the annual meeting and ends after the voting.

I shouldn’t need to warn you about this, but as new owners and mostly recent grads from the University of Phoenix, you need to understand that the initiatives which you submit should be stockholder and management friendly. In other words, you need to put some thought into a suggestion that helps you, stockholders and stakeholders, explain it, build support for it it, network and drum up support for it.

Good luck and and be sure to give us progress updates.

The company's best days are in the past. All these outside new leaders come in with huge salaries and fake jobs; while quarter after quarter the worker bees get laid off. And I wholeheartedly disagree that folks were slacking off. Who??! Everyone I know continued to work their butts off. It is sad, but the whole culture is toxic and as we all know, the fish rots from the head.

Why would you expect to be compensated for choosing to live in a higher tax rate area?

Unless are you senior Management with a relocation package in which case that’s a sweet deal.

RE: Banking transactions weren’t made at home in the old days?
Do you realize we’re no longer in the old days??

Do you mean “call off”, or why are saying “call out” which would mean pointing out employees for some reason?

Yes but standard of living has gone way down because of POC terrorizing our cities

Banking transactions weren't made at home in the 'ol days. Think you could work on those big clunky computers or typewriters and ledgers at home?? These companies were built by our ancestors by marching their butts into ther office! Suck it up!

@2meu Really has a point. Workers calling off while WFH really was a major issue. Can’t blame Robin for reacting to the hand that he’s been dealt. In hindsight Todd probably should have had at least a small layoff or two.

Kind of think that the workers did “start pushing back” and that’s exactly why Robin needs to right the ship. Imagine that the shareholders would like their bank back as well.

An hour commute is pretty much the average. Utterly normal. The whining here is simply off of the charts.

Exactly right. Senior Management learned a lot about employee worth ethics over the past 3 years and are reacting appropriately. Most of the whiners here are the worst offenders. It’s easy to destroy trust and our workforce did exactly that.

If you owned a company would you put up with it?

Taxes apply to where you live. Move somewhere with lower taxes. Commuter costs depend upon your car, gas prices, length of commute, parking costs, etc. again, all based on where you choose to live. Change your choice and you change your costs and/or your free time.

We all make poor decisions but we can always make better ones tomorrow.

@2hgo+1mXJIPdS - exactly and then let’s add in the call outs even after being allowed to wfh. Cause I recall most coworkers in office pre covid saying “ if we got to wfh we wouldn’t have to call out”. Yet those were and are still the same ones doing it. But hey let’s all complain that they’re making us go back because people couldn’t adult

Can’t say that they didn’t give us all a great chance to prove ourselves in working from home. We had people disappearing at work, a guy who bragged about bingeing Netflix every day, etc

we were shafted by our own coworkers.

No it isn’t a pay cut, it’s a tax and typical commuter costs. Utterly normal for over a hundred years.

The sheer fragility of the millennials is terrifying for the future of this country.

Don't forget that you'll probably also be paying more taxes because of the switch to Delaware. Yet another pay cut.

backwards, toxic culture. used to be a great place to work. other companies are embracing alternative work models. we go back to the old ages, but with decreased job security and bonuses without any management guidance. clearly a s**t place to work

We the workers need to start pushing back! We are now owners with our 10 shares that was reduced to 5 lol - either way let your manager know you don’t see this as a workable solution. Hopefully Vince will get his head straight soon !

Same story in Oriskany too. We were just told our 1 day exemption was over - very upsetting.
