Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T in the news today

about its woke organization contributions and quarterly dividend cut along with Boeing and other companies. It was not a warm and fuzzy feeling seeing how ATT has contributed over $21.5 million to racial justice organizations while laying off thousands of employees from 2020 thru 2022. It also began an $11M initiative to become an "anti-racist" company! It's getting to be a very ugly company and we all know how this story will end!

Dude, if all you know how to do is denigrate people on this website, then it shows that your IQ is about the size of your g0nad$! Bottom line is, you're obviously a leftist lunatic and just doing what your ilk does best. If someone disagree with you, your lack of intelligence forces you to bash and belittle the best way you know how! That, my friend speaks volumes! When people show you who they are, believe them!

Affirmative Action was implemented in 1965 and did wonders for minorities IF, they wanted to take advantage of it! At this point since most youths are opting for college and have the same opportunities, there's no reason for AA anymore! NOW, it's just blatant disregard for merit and based solely on the color of an applicants skin. That's disgraceful and reverse discrimination, pure and simple!

"Are you REALLY upset that they are trying to make labor relations better?!?! Racism IS a thing! Now, I could see if the money was used for say the MASTERS tournament and they turned around and laid off , but racism is a thing that is an issue"

Not upset at Racism...just the way the "Elitist", 2 percenters' and C-Suiters' are making the minions once again pay for their barbarian oppressive agendas! Look folks, there is a reason for Federal EEO policies and the like....for the most part (always some extreme situations from both sides) the minions will work with whoever they send to fill the position!!! The minions have no control over the hiring, firing and pay scale or the principles being pushed for hiring practices of PRE 2020....yet somehow we are all racist and biased according to the DEI, ESG propaganda we get shoveled! Give me a break, these Corporations need to be paying ALL us minions reparations at this point!

If you don’t believe the news you’re probably not smart enough to use google yourself and find the truth. Ironic if you can’t do that and still be employed here at the same time.

Where is your data or information to support the claims? If the poster referenced the source of the $21M and $11M he claims ATT spent, he certainly should provide links or details where to find the details. Facts do matter. Otherwise, we'll assume you're lying or you really are a plain old racist or both. That is a fact.

Everything is racist these days. Imho
Everyone is prejudiced to some extent. You have a preference to be around people that are similar to you, nothing wrong with that. I see you as a person, but even that’s considered racist anymore. I disagree with these programs, it just promotes more racism. Companies need to stay out of these kinds of things, you are just going to alienate some group.

Hopefully T is the company that takes DEI to the Nth degree and goes completely out of business because of it. Need at least 1 company to step up and show what the reality is when you run your company as a social experiment.

Seriously, with a CEO like Stankey, how much longer can this company survive? He has destroyed at&t, the best years can be best viewed in the rearview mirror. The worst part is there is no accountability. If you ask him, he claims the employees didn't execute. Let's just wait and see what Wall St. Has in store for him this week!

I agree there is racism in the world. But racism exist on ethnicities. The core issue is one ethnicity just can’t compete. If it’s going to change it starts at home. Two parents raising kids the right way and success will follow. This recipe works for all ethnicities and has been proven over and over.
The company is throwing money out the for publicity and that’s it. It’s a money making endeavor.
If you notice apple, meta, Tesla and twitter aren’t out publicly touting their giveaways….they don’t need to be aide their business is making money.

AT&T's contributions to organizations is for PR reasons, like advertising, to get potential customers to like the company and buy their products.

Now certainly, it will alienate the Jim Crow aficionados such as the OP. But they must have concluded that the gains exceed the losses.

@ojm+1mas5GAG

You are correct, racism is a thing… in all races. Business per the law, shouldn’t discriminate on race, s-x, religion, etc… and base their employment and labor decisions on law, sound business principles and practices. Social injustice or issues should be addressed on an individual case if there is grievance and handled accordingly. AT&T is a for profit public traded business not a social organization.

Layoffs will continue to ensue if they become something other than a for profit with proven business principles and practices. Woke is broke.

Companies need to leave social issues alone and stick to a neutral business plan. A plan that involves making good decisions and practices, positive revenue stream, increasing net income, raising dividends and deleveraging debt.

Employee hiring, promotions and wages should be based on proven business principles of education, certifications, competency and knowledge. Let all the multitude of woke check boxes go away, if not then it will only result in revenue loss, shrinking customer base, won’t attract top talent and loss of current talent when they are overlooked for promotion.
