Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Why hire your wife for the job

Manager hires his wife with no experience other than some random degree in some unknown college, who barely understands technical terms, keeps silent all meeting long with no engagement. Totally uncalled for. No wonder why it's a dumpster fire out here.

Look around you at all the s-x scandals. None if these would have happened if you had wife working close by. Exception unless you are president then you can have your cake and eat another cake.

Micron just recently had to answer to and settle with the Department of Justice for something similar.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/micron-to-pay-penalty-to-settle-federal-citizenship-discrimination-probe/ar-AA1ah843

Please report this to HR and if they don't take it seriously please submit a claim to the Department of Justice. If something doesn't seem right it's probably because it isn't, especially if managers hiring their wives from unknown foreign schools then they are testing immigration and National Origin discrimination.

Haha what ethics department? HR reports to management, management is run by the same third worlders that run Intel like a Calcutta permit office.

Lol! Its been happening for a long time now. Not just Folsom. In Arizona too. Ridiculous!! Why do you think TSMC is so far ahead. They don't have this kind of cr-p! Nepotism is very common is South Asia. You don't get a Job unless you know someone. Hire family member who does little or now work. And a steady paycheck. The ultimate Indian dream. Thats why in India every body runs after govt jobs.

Why hire your wife for a job? Easy, so you don't get B.K.'ed

Being in Intel can be the easiest job or the most difficult and most engineering jobs fetch $ 100+K. Quid-pro-quo hiring is very common, especially in a small town like Folsom. Being an Indian, I know Indians do it blatantly!
Peers cannot bring this up because they will face a backlash.

This is BS, and I don’t mean the initials of a former CEO.

@njg - Don't be so naive, of course they are not hiring directly into the same management chain. The way it usually works is: brown-nosing FLM#1 asks corrupt SLM and FLM#2 to open an external req in #2's group for #1's wife/girlfriend or relative. They will go through the motions of receiving CV's and even hold interviews for the req. Then they will declare the interview process over and will hire the wife or relative as the "best" candidate. This is made way easier through DEI policies, as they can bias the interviews towards white/male candidates, with the eventual hire as the only "diverse" candidate.

I've seen this happen directly several times and also heard about multiple other instances, not only Indians but also Malaysians, Mexicans, Costra Ricans and management cliques of other nationalities. I'm pretty sure this kind of corruption is OK and not frowned upon in their countries/culture, but it shouldn't be OK in the USofA.

It's against company policy to have a romantic relationship with someone in your report chain. You could joke that many marriages have no romance... but that's not the point. Report to HR if it's really happening. Get back to work if it's not.

You have now identified the least likely person to get laid off in your group.

At least if they're not doing anything they shouldn't impede your own work.

I agree with the other comment, if you think there has been any break of the rules, please report to HR. If not, then you are just whining.
