Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

"Focus on what you can control"

My last manager used this line on me. I guess it was good advice because I quit shortly thereafter - that was the only thing left I could control at XOM. Definitely enjoyed hearing the same line from the Herman Miller CEO after she cancelled everyone's bonuses except her own $4M bonus:

I left because of my toxic supervisor and an ignorant dh. The dh told me he didn’t care if he was ranked poor long as that check kept coming. What a piece of work. Glad I don’t have to look at either of them again

Funny connection there: My Herman Miller desk chair is easily the best thing about my job.

I retired because I was a former XTO employee and XOM is awful. Period.

I control my destiny by submitting my resignation and leaving this terrible, toxic place. Best thing I ever did. Still recovering from ptsd. Only regret I didn’t do it sooner.
