Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

HR is a joke

I just recently went to my HR partner to discuss unethical behavior, potential gender discrimination, bullying and retaliation... and do you know what they told me? "This is between me and my [insert the name of the bully here]" I took my stack of evidence to ER and they declined to investigate.
This place has completely transformed into something ugly. I've been here 15 years and I don't recognize it anymore. I have a strong suspicion i'm getting terminated and HR is helping my abusive boss complete his mission. Absolutely disgusting and shocking,... but maybe not that shocking at all.

You people seem to have no clue what a companies HR department is for.

you are not the first. no one who went to hr or er or legal ever had a good outcome. the only outcome is termination or they'll decrease your band and take away your dignity.

I left in November after my HR report of bullying & unethical conduct against a Sr Director was closed 3 times without any action or documentation. Then they moved me & my teams to directly report to the same Sr Director. Of course he was best friends with the VP & friends with RAT.

Sorry this happened to you, this was my experience in both a Global and Geo team. Went to HR twice, once for gender pay disparity and another for bullying with no action on either. Never actually received a response on pay disparity, even after following up multiple times. I’ve since left Nike and haven’t regretted it at all. Nothing at Nike is worth you feeling undervalued and underappreciated.

This is still in play. Give them a call. Case is to be determined in a court of appeals: https://gbdhlegal.com/cases/cahill-et-al-v-nike-inc/

Normal HR departments protect the company. Ours protects a select cadre of “in” leadership positions.

I wish I were joking or exaggerating.

It is vital that you figure out how well connected your vertical is, and what their dalliances are.
If they’re protected and have been around a while their closet is overflowing with skeletons. Worst case you end up one yourself, best case you end up just fired.

Yea, sorry Pal, take as old as time. They do not care, and they don’t even care about giving the impression that they do care. Had a situation with a sr. director who was playing favs and giving jobs for the gal who… gave him favors. Tried to tell HR and they basically told me I could go seek employment elsewhere. That is, until he got caught red handed. Then it was tears from the HRBP and being told to keep my mouth shut and not tell anyone what happened. That dept is criminal.

OP: Same thing happened to me in 2017. I had a peer who bullied everyone in the department. I kept emails and documentation, went to Employee Relations (after going to HR) and was told EVEN WITH PROOF that I had no substantive 'proof'. I was laid off three months later. ER and HR are a complete joke. A bunch of p*ssies afraid of their own job security. Disgusting behavior by the company but there's nothing you can do about it. You are NOT safe...no matter who tells you that you are. Just tolerate it for as long as you can and wait for the payout.

Call one of the many employment lawyers that will happily help out. Nike will settle. Anything to keep their name out of the press.
