That’s an old Intel tactic … “It’s not you it’s your role!”.
@yyd, the work still needs to be done just not by those people. This is the start of management trimming what they see as dead weight.
Let me guess, these were older employees so they were higher grades which have accumulated a larger compensation package. The work went to junior employees at lower grades and compensation. Of course they may not have the experience to do the work as well but that doesn't show up in the bean counter spreadsheet. This is the formula that has been in use since 2015.
It's already happening, I know several people who were affected. They did not have a choice thier roles "were no longer needed" which is odd because the work will just loaded onto someone else.
