I also would like to know where the dates are coming from. Not to apply for other roles, but to know how much time I actually have.

@1umx+1mePlIVE -- Don't trust your VP. Do you think your VP made it to that grade level and survived here, by being honest and transparent with his/her employees??? I guarantee it's not over for Optum Tech. There may or may not be a mass layoff that matches April's numbers, but more people will be let go in the months and years to come, just like last year and the years before that. Like the other poster said, it's pretty random -- could be any department, any grade level, any performance rating (although 1 and 2 is almost a guarantee you'll be let go).
@1umx+1mePlIVE- More detailed info. on RIFs is not going to help you to run from one department to another - in hope to apply for "other" jobs within this org. As other posts indicated it has nothing to do with performance ratings or any logical criteria. It could be your salary grade (too high) or nepotism until your luck runs out. Best course of action, plan B to exit. seeking for career next steps outside of this org. No one is safe when the main objective of this org - bottom line driven no up front strategy- reactive to pump up the proxy annual report in April year after year. You can run but you can not hide when the guiding principle for this org is RIFs to show artificial growth.
Especially if you are no where near retirement age or financially equipped to stay down for long time before landing elsewhere. Good luck!
It seems like optum tech got hit hard early this month and now other areas within optum are now getting hurt. Seems like they are spread apart by department. I think optum tech is done, although I can’t trust anyone, but that’s what was told to me by VP level.
Also those who say summer and fall, more layoofs to come. Where are you getting this? It will be helpful to provide more info so people can apply to other jobs prior

it can be fake openings, they can still show they are doing good or they will interview a lot of people and will prove to the department of labour that they can't hire for these positions, and will bring from offshore or contractors or these openings are for contractors.

One good software developer from our team was let go. I’ve heard only 10 total in our department were let go so we were somewhat lucky.
Two people on my team were laid off this morning
Just lost 1 of 4 developers in a lean and well-functioning group, and 1 other developer reporting to the same director.

Yes, there were layoffs, however they cannot share specifics so it’s not known who was affected until those affected share.
