Management $4,200 Retiree Health Care Stipend

Below is an AI generated response to the question of whether or not the annual $4,200 stipend would be continued after 2023 (not likely in my opinion or by AI response). My question is has there been a formal announcement yet?

The probability that AT&T's $4,200 annual management retiree health care stipend will be continued after the end of 2023 is low. In 2022, AT&T announced that it would be eliminating all medical coverage for retirees who leave the company on or after January 1, 2022. This decision was made in an effort to save money. AT&T is not the only company that has made this decision in recent years. Many companies are struggling to afford the rising cost of health care, and they are looking for ways to cut costs. It is therefore unlikely that AT&T will reverse its decision to eliminate medical coverage for retirees.

However, there is a small possibility that AT&T could continue the stipend for a limited time. The company could do this if it believes that it would be good for employee morale or if it is facing pressure from unions or other stakeholders. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to continue the stipend will be up to AT&T's management.

Here are some factors that could influence AT&T's decision:

The cost of health care: The rising cost of health care is a major concern for many companies. AT&T is no exception. The company has been facing increasing pressure to reduce its health care costs.
Employee morale: AT&T's decision to eliminate medical coverage for retirees could have a negative impact on employee morale. Many employees may feel that the company is not taking care of them in their retirement years.
Pressure from unions or other stakeholders: AT&T could face pressure from unions or other stakeholders to continue the stipend. These groups may argue that the stipend is important for employee morale and that it helps to attract and retain top talent.

Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to continue the stipend will be up to AT&T's management. The company will need to weigh the costs and benefits of the stipend before making a decision.

"This was formally announced in 2022 to all qualified retirees. ATT is move Medicare eligible coverage to an unique Medicare advantage plan, designed by ATT with United Healthcare. This plan from my analysis beats any other advantageplan on the market. Low co pays, and low total out of pocket cost. This will be the wave of the future. Anything to reduce the billions a year T pays for healthcare."

Agree 100%, you forgot to mention it has $0 annual medical deductible. My monthly cost is $0.
It reminds me of the way it used to be many years ago.

I received my notification several months ago from HR that the $4,200 will be discontinued in 2024. Either we take the UHC (AT&T Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) Plan) which will be the company subsidized plan, or stay with what we have with no company contributions.
AT&T will pay the premiums for the retiree and the spouse will pay $50.00 per month in 2024. But in 2025-2028 the spouse is reduced to $0/month.
I’m waiting to see what kind of deductibles there are which will probably break the bank!

On the occupational side, the $4200 is done in 2024. One can choose the AT&T Medicare Advantage program if they want. For people previously entitled to the stipend, the coverage for the retiree is free. I don't think it's free for the spouse.

For those retirees that aren't entitled to the stipend, they can access the plan for a monthly premium.

Currently, I'm not seeing dental in the plan, so I'm undecided whether the plan makes sense, regardless of its low out-of-pocket. I might roll the dice with a $0 plan with dental. That's what I got now, and it works fine.

Stankey could care less. Sure the reimbursements will continue through 03/32024. Stankey will not relent, he has warned every benefit eligible retiree that effective 01/02024, everyone will be transitioned to UHC. No more allocations to cover healthcare expenses. Please feel fortunate, it's just a matter of time before Stankey stops any and all healthcare subsidies. That's right, just a matter of time.
