@not; hopefully history does not repeat itself and EM does not go down the tubes like the once might GE (General Electric), that has now become GE (Gigantic Embarrassment).
If you watch one of Darren Woods’ most recent interviews about how we spent billions on project development and execution in the market downturn to make record profits in 2023 and having the the context of how we had to lay off so many people in 2020 to make those investment happens, it tells this exact story.
This really makes me sick to my stomach that he is so proud of the investments we made - because the real cost was the people we had to lose to make that happen.
Exxon is a different place now as a result. Those short term gains will result in pain long term when we no longer have quality technical people to run our assets efficiently and develop the right projects in the coming decades.
