Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Without Promos Quiet Quitting Happening !

Without the incentive to work harder, I have seen so many folks just falling to quiet quitting. Rightly so. ZERO incentive to work hard or outperform.

@1exu - Intel is already a second-tier company with a management bureaucracy out of a dystopian nightmare. It is already a cushy government-like job for more than half the workforce and almost all the managers. It has been a long decline that really hit its stride around the time the Big Klown ACTed back in 2015-2017. At this point Intel is a lost cause, PG is executing the right strategy for 10 or even 5 years ago. Right now it's just too late.

@eqt, you sound like someone who just had got promoted last year and is not expecting a promo or a raise and is happy that has a job. Either that or you are just trying to live our your remaining years at Intel and just so glad that you get to have a job in this environment. If you were even close to a top performer, you would be burning to the core of your soul for what the company is doing to meritocracy.

Think about all the folks who were on the track of being promoted to next level which they may have been working over lot of years and 23 was supposed to be that year. Think about the folks who were already performing at high level and were getting ready to get paid this year or next. Think about the folks who had to influence so many folks within the company to see and recognize their performance for what it is to get promoted to high level and all of that seemed like that was converging for '23 or '24. Think about those folks who lost the managers who recognized their performance and these top performers have to start again with new manager to have them recognize and trust their performance (yes, you got to do this with moving orgs and pieces). This cr-p sucks for all those folks.

Even if you are not in one of the above categories, I see that the company with their long history of just having way more failures than successes, the likelihood that the company fails again mightily on the other side of this is very high. If you want your top performers or wanna be top performers who are actually driven by meritocracy take you to success, you cant do that without offering raises and promos. If the company doesnt pay attention to this, they would likely be another 2nd tier company like ST Micro, microchip or others which has no growth prospect and for employees its just a government job. No raises and no achievers.

@eqt part of the problem at this company is that everyone seems to think that they are a top performer. They also take no responsibility for what happens, it was always some obscure manager who forced everyone done this path... what a load of cr@p.

Quiet quitting is stealing period. No one is entitled to a paycheck. The company told you that the environment had changed and they needed to take actions before they took them. If you don't like the new compensation than leave. If you stay than do your job to the best of your ability. Taking a paycheck when you know you didn't do the work is probably a symptom of being a sociopath. No one if forcing you to stay and no one is forcing you to steal. Those are your own decisions. Maybe you are a top performer, at being ethically void.

The leaders are trying to give motivational speeches with no promise of reward for any of the people doing all of the damn work. They’ll reward the already high earners though.

@zkw, believe it or not, even a company which as a whole is not doing well, has good performers. Its a 100k people company. A few good performers are not the reason that the company is not doing well.

A lot of leaders who made bad decision because of which the company is in this stage have already been fired. So the problem is not the good performers who remain, but the folks who earn millions of dollars and have made bad decisions in last 10 years.

Look at the state of the company, if anyone had been performing in the first place the company wouldn't be in the mess it is in now. You only got part of the pay cuts you deserve. I hope all of the quiet quitters are fired in the next round of layoffs and they don't find new jobs. No company deserves to have your lazy a$$ on the payroll.

Yep, no motivation to do anything
Even the managers seem like they don't want to push too hard

Not just no promos. Try pay cuts, 401k. Arching cuts, bonus and 0 raise with no recognitions. It’s all very negative for performance. This must be temporary or Intel is in trouble.
