Freezer

I have a really really hard time staffing my freezers. Let's be honest, who wants to work in -10, 8 hours day for 15/hr??? 😂 I can do it all day because I'm the lead obviously and I have the appropriate gear. But how am I supposed to convince people in interviews it's worth it???? Have had dudes work one day in there and then quit.

I like working in the freezer no one bothers me. No managers, leads or associates. Since we stock through out the day now I just put my ear buds in and away I go. They had meetings that I missed since I work the freezers. And the cherry on top of holding this position is that even if higher ups are doing a walk on us even they avoid the freezer/cooler section.

Peace and tranquility.

I left a club that was low medium volume and it was pretty brutal. I cant even imagine working in a high volume club.

It's a very difficult job. For $15 . I injured myself doing the job and was coached for it. South FL is a brutal market. Seen almost 100 associates come and go in the few years alone. The company doesn't have any reality to how or what the associates go through. Oblivious to work.

The problem with working the freezers is the amount of freight & deliveries that are sent in. Unless you're extremely high volume, these clubs don't need a truck every night. There needs to be days that we work only back stock. Having multiple pallets of chicken wings, nuggets, breakfast bowls is uneccassary. Corporate wants clean, neat, straight freezer/coolers... cut back on the excessive freight & people will have time to do the little things and their jobs won't be so difficult. The buyers over buying & home office decisions are what make these jobs far more difficult than what they should be.

Well yeah of course you can work double shifts and never come out of the cold freezer. I mean they would not have made you a team lead if you didnt have a superman cape tucked in your clothes. I mean it is Obvious right? You would not have been promoted if you were not far far better than the lowly hourlies. Of course you can do it , I mean yeah , of course , you are a team lead after all. Its almost not even right to scare regular hourlies with seeing the work load you can bear nd the quality you achieve. I mean its not bragging if you can do it right? And you can do it because you know , you are a team lead. ..... Dude dont think you are great because they promoted you. Likely not. You said yes when asked ( after they could not find anyone else or you kissed up really good. ). Thats the only reason you are a team lead. Now you might be able to do a great job in the freezer and stay inside all day. And its good f you can. But the only thing obvious because you are a team lead is that you are a lackey. If that were not true you could not tolerate being a lead for long. Try standing up for yourself or your people or refuse to do something because it is stupid and see how long you stay a team lead.

In 20 years at Sam’s I’ve only seen one guy work the freezers from the inside. Everyone else sits everything out and stalks it and it doesn’t go back in till 8 or 9am
