Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Full stack observability?

Heard of a potential opening on the BD/Sales side for this team, but feeling cautious after LRs in my org. Anyone know anything about this offering and how the product stacks against competitors? Not looking to join another org that will be on the chopping block again, but there is little to no information about it online...

Avoid! It's largely a failed experiment and the leader of that group is an absolute *. The open reqs are largely a sham anyway as they just hire their mates in (mostly from Australia/NZ).

Avoid. FSO high level concept is good but revenue is small and that friend is all what matters at Cisco. disjointed solution from different acquisitions using PPT to sell as an “architecture” . Confusing and complex to sell and license and Cisco will get bored when revenue does not match the hype and will be mass LRs in 18 months.

Thousand Eyes is the shiny new object and hiring like crazy. The honeymoon will be over within 12 months when this doesn't bring the revenue they expect and layoffs will happen. Just look at the crazy licensing model - actually makes Smart licensing look easy in comparison. FSO is the current buzzword getting a lot of funding and jobs, but plan a clean exit in 12 months to something else.

I’d avoid that group. Multiple products (not a unified solution), doesn’t do well against competition, and while a “hot” area, it’s tiny revenue.

You never really know at Cisco. My last gig at Cisco was in the latest hot area (which is still hot), but the powers above decided to wipe out 90% of my dept. It was a d-mb decision which Cisco is still paying for, but I gave up trying to figure out how the execs make their decisions. Certainly has nothing to do with maintaining a technical edge on the competition.
