Green shoots refers to the weeds that are growing out of the top of the buildings on the Ireland site.

Thats a very standard term in business.
Multiple analysts hit Intel on the problem of factory underloading charges and pre-PRQ (product release milestone). Basically, the company is saying the underloading and pre-PRQ problems are hitting the gross margin pretty hard (300 - 500 bps) but they should be less a problem in the second half...
But when the analysts asked, 'how can these go down when you are launching so many products over such a short period...' the response was less then convincing.
As for me, I just don't see much upside in $INTC until we can get some real visibility into gross margin stability and some kind of real proof that IFS is anything more then a Grovian moonshot... or whatever Pat-ism is attached to it.
The stock is holding up quite well considering the odds of this company ever generating a deceit return on invested capital is pretty thin...

Ah you were on the earnings call... so to was I. Yeah that was a tough call for those guys but they stuck to the script. Dave Z cracked a bit at the end when the French analyst roasted the company pretty hard...
'green shoots' came from Pat... def sounds like a Pat-ism. It is a reference to what seeds do just as they sprout out of the ground... you get 'green shoots...' he was referring to some new products and early signs somebody my buy them someday....
