We are working with juniors that have never been in an office, never leave their bedroom, are too shy to pick up their phone and too scared on VC to talk up.
So a small number of us overworked oldies are carrying the can in nearly everything.
Forget layoffs, tell all the kids they need to come into the office 5 days a week and we will soon clear the deadwood and employ people who aren't afraid to pick up a phone and are grateful for a job and a customer.
I'm ok with returning to the office if its enforced but they can absolutely forget the idea of out of hours work from that point on.
I do sort a hyrbid model myself and at the end of the day, I say to myself I could have done all this at home. When I get to the office, I'm on zoom meetings with the people sitting right next to me. The time it took to drive in and drive home could have been spent working. Unless the at-office experience changes where you need to be at the office for meetings, people won't want to go in. If you have remote people that live in other states you have to have zoom meetings and once you do, then more local people won't come in because they can jump on the zoom meeting. Other than socializing with coworkers, going in probably isn't worth it.

Some of the jobs that went to WFH have always bee customer facing and the kids dont want a bar of it. Change jobs
What the author says is true. No one wants to call customers they want to text message and use Tik Tok. Someone has to actually meet them and do work.
Simple. Pay work from home people less and pay work from office or customer people more.

Bring back the VSP
How else can we mold [sic] the next generation of free thinkers if we don't drag them into the office and get them dressed up in tan chinos?
This like managment testing the waters to see how the staff feel.
