Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It's Survey Time!!!

You got it folks, it's that time of the quarter where the 'anonymous' (wink, wink) survey comes out to seek your opinions on broad questions.

Will the scores be the same, better, or worse? Only the bean counters will know....

Have fun!!

The survey doesnt come to your boss with your name on it, however the VP’s/Directors get the % of completions/mgr & the mgr’s get the # of answers & the verbatims so its not hard to figure out who said what. It’s sad that the Co only does this to “check a box” bc “all the other good Co’s” do it. I always ignore the verbatim questions intent and use it to rant on the poor support given the field, changes for the worse on the BGCO “Team of Non Excellence” or whatever stupid change they made without thinking it through (basically EVERYTHING!) You can type your answer in word and paste it in, then alter it using abbreviations, etc to get below the character limit.

During the last survey, a bunch of people slammed one of our managers. He was so butthurt, he had a meeting to find out why he scored so low. Boy you sure saw who the real brown nosers was

The ONLY reason... I repeat the ONLY reason they do these surveys is to see who is for or against the company.

They don't care about us. If they did they wouldn't have gotten rid of commission, outsourced pretty much everything, given actual cost of living increases and adequate raises to longtime employees etc...

The survey isn't anonymous. If it was it wouldn't be sent to individual emails that you aren't suppose to forward. Anyone that thinks these surveys are to benefit the employee isn't too bright.

You guys do understand the difference between seeing who took (or not) survey vs seeing actual answers, right?

All these comments about Pulse not being anonymous, mangers asking if you have taken the survey or not and that supervisors are receiving the comments from their direct reports is concerning. Pulse appears to be used to filter out the bitchers and complainers and RIF them.

I personally have received the comments made by each of my direct reports. If you Director gets engaged they will see the comments. Don’t let them fool you

Anonymous until my boss asked in a team chat to confirm if we had already completed the survey … BS

These surveys are not anonymous. Management retaliates to those employees including laying them off if they make managers / Directors look bad.

Last time I marked no confidence in leadership I was pulled into a meeting with my director to ask about my score… so much for anonymous until it’s not

Like many activities at VZ, the Pulse survey was good when it was started but it’s gone steadily downhill.

There is always a push by management to hit that 100% participation rate.... only to have a 0% action/follow-up rate.

I think it’s beautiful how the company values the opinions of the employees with the survey.

I haven’t taken it and no one has asked me about it. Previously I’ve been asked to make sure I take it whether I already had or not

It is on your todo list which would make sense for your manager to see.

Past years I’ve been late to take it, and asked by management to remember to take it (red flag 1)

This year I noticed the alert and took it, and now no one has asked me if I’ve taken it (red flag 2)

Leadership !#? If only more folks completed pulse honestly we might actually get leaders. So called leadership only care about leveraging the experienced professionals, and taking credit for thier teams successes, and about thier own promotions. Our so called leadership are incompetent and dont give 2 craps about verizon. Just keep watching what they do.

As disclosed in the 2023 Proxy, Mr. Vestberg could receive $31.6 million, or more than six (6) times his 2022 base salary plus a short-term bonus, upon termination following any change in company control.

I answer honestly, but defensibly. If someone were to come to me and ask me to explain why I gave the answers I did, I feel like I could make a case for my answers.

That said, I also don't kid glove it. The question about leadership, in particular, should be pretty telling.
