Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

How long before it implodes ?

The s-show I witness on a daily basis, and it’s getting worse by the week, tells me that Honeywell, at least my division, is absolutely circling the drain. I cannot imagine a way we come out of this intact. It’s THAT bad. It’s always been bad, but the last year or two? Spectacularly bad. There’s a handful of people with industry knowledge left, who are trying to hold it together, none of them are in positions to call any shots and the ones that are calling the shots? Pure grifters, scammers, and liars who are 100% in it for their pockets only. They’re arrogant and ignorant. Bad combo for sustainability.

To go along with the Best Buy Honeywell thermostat post. They put in a different brand of thermostat in basement at Torrance a few years ago. Gee, do the products suck or what?

I had to get prototypes made in my job. Approved supplier list was bu11sh1t, luckily we got one approved after great effort who was fantastic. They were really not happy about the 6 month payment term but reluctlantly agreed. F@ck Honeywell, they did not pay them after 6 months, I fought to the rectify that and got no where. 12 months later, still not paid and the company told us to get stuffed. Huge loss. Honeywell does not care.

I think we treat suppliers worse. That is why we now have so many parts shortages for ridiculous parts that we should have on the shelf now. But ultimately this directly relates to the way we now treat customers as well.

I’d like to see a poll of who we treat worse - Suppliers or Customers

I think it's customers, but I'd like to see a similar poll to who we treat worse between customers or employees.

I told a customer 6 month into my job that I was embarrassed by the way Honeywell treats its customers. I don’t know what else to say after months of late deliveries, price surcharges, and no one can get an answer from anyone. It takes at least 6 people, 3 meetings, and 10+ emails to get basic information.

This (Honeywell) will never end. It will morph into another evil entity. Conglomerates live to buy small companies and harvest them, repeat. Get used to it or get out..... just sayin....

You must be speaking about HBS.

@1vhk+1msgT0tE it keeps going strong because we are being squeezed. It is all on the backs if employees, vendors and customers.

For some reason we shared an office with the customer care team for Honeywell home products, confusing as I thought they were split off with Resideo but whatever. Quite regularly I would receive a wrong number from an irate customer, I would really enjoy telling them they bought a piece of sh1t and then have a bit of banter about how cr@p the company is.... they always thought it was hilarious. Kept me entertained too!

You know you are in trouble when you look at a Honeywell smart thermostat at Best Buy and the guy next to you says “yeah… I wouldn’t recommend that one.. I work at Honeywell”
I said.. “me too, aero. I just wanted to see the date code.. there it is, on the shelf for over a year”
True story.

When you are in the middle of an implosion, how can you tell when it began? I think it began some time ago. When DC started the outsourcing? When DA started as CEO? When JW was appointed president of SPS? I can't really blame DC because when he got Honeywell, it was a complete mess and he turned it around. But, I think his decisions led to the current mess that Honeywell is in. Particularly the disrespect shown to the competent employees that were able to find better positions elsewhere. It's all about executive compensation and nothing else.

These people have an ability to ferret out those who are willing to submit to their control, "tell the teacher" on who is being naughty or nice -- exploitation of the weak-minded is the name of the game, the game that keeps them going longer than people generally expect -- but it does all end at some point.

it'll keep rumbling on and on -
maybe flog bits off and find new companies to scavenge but it'll be same old same old.

remember it's always worst before it gets worse

I have the recurring thought the past 2 years that they keep hiring inept and inexperienced people for senior roles because they aren’t able to attract decent talent. If they have legacy good talent, the inept senior duds elbow, PIP or otherwise push them out. It’s a race to the bottom caused by toxic leadership at the top. JW trashed SPS and was rewarded. He hired a group of inept duds and the cancer continues to spread. He is just one obvious example though. That example is more common than examples of meritocracy or fair leadership. DEA has empowered and advocated toxic leadership and rewarded failure.

Post ID: @1vhk+1msgT0tE A very suspect post, I have been with this company 27 years and anyone with any real tenure here is very aware that the last 5 years have been by far the worst we have seen. Fortunatley I retire soon but it is sad to see this companies demise. Honeywell will obviously not dissapear but it will be a much smaller company and likely very soon.

What you describe is identical to our business, never has it been so bad. I also do not imagine we can survive much longer, we have lost so many crucial contracts and the best of the brains have moved on or were pushed out.

My dad started at honeywell in the 70s. He said the same things.
Kidding. Honeywell went downhill in the early 2000s.
GE ki-led honeywell.

Unfortunately, the same has been said on this site since at least 2008. Complaints about the culture, business 'circling the drain', bad leaders, poor treatment of employees, etc. Nothing has change and Honeywell keeps going strong. Will be this way for another 20 years.

We are not too far out from several sites to a couple super sites filled with nothing but contractors. Managers try and convey happy thought and projections. But Honeywell does not have a work culture, just a leftovers culture.
