Was at BR today and heard that another finance shakeup is being announced this coming week.

I was shocked at what I saw in FPA. They were literally recopying another group's work product, reformatting the numbers with a one-day lag, and putting this out as top-notch work. Out of the entire group, I could not really think of how any of this work created any value for anyone. The real problem is with the number of vice presidents and directors and agency risk.
In order to maintain their VP or Director status requires a certain number of people reporting to them. And none of them want to give up that very nice bonus and so will spin whatever wheels necessary to keep the money flowing.
Most of FP&A is now in VGS.
I constantly see job posts for FP&A, and always wondered what they actually do aside from number crunching.... and how many people do you really need for that?
I havent been deploying RPA quick enough … my bad
All finance employees have been disrespected. We are not gonna take it no more. Put that in yer pipe and smoke it.
What does finance do?
Still way too many people in FP&A doing nothing but a multitude of excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint garbage. Get back to the basics
Looking back at all the RIF's, finance has given way more than our share. Time to turn your focus elsewhere. There are a ton of ringers at Verizon, how about weeding them suckers out!
OP, your title should read "another finance shakedown".
Because that's exactly what it is, a shakedown.
Hans, go pick on other v-teamers for a change.
Just stop already, picking on the finance division. Time to spread the wealth by including other divisions in the RIF process. I'm not sure how finance ever became a target, being so conspicuous. We in finance have had it up to here and we're not gonna take it anymore.
There are still many finance groups here at VZ. I have a good friend who works on one of those teams in Tulsa. She tells me we have an entire building full in Lake Mary - her group in Tulsa - another group in KS that reports to Tulsa and VGS teams all over the place, one of which is located here at BR. It makes sense that they look at all these folks and review opportunities. Apparently they are expecting senior leaders and HR this week in Tulsa . All we can do is wait and see.
Anytime there is a leadership change, always expect a shake up. If they want people off payroll by end of June, May is the notification month for it.
They are always coming to the same well, over and over again. It's getting old quick, go pick on another workgroup for a change.
The only shake up I heard was the rif for next week. Our VP advised us a couple of weeks ago that there would be one. Our VP advised us that our org would not be impacted as we just had rifs.
How many times are they going to mix up finance? Most of the their orgs either recently had leaders leave or “retire”. Other entire finance orgs were swallowed up by VGS.
