I could have easily retired if I hadn’t maxed out my contributions in the ESPP over 20 years instead of just putting the money in an S&P index fund….thankfully I didn’t do that with my 401k
AK will always be 'Hari' to me.
I think it depends. Certainly for Senior Staff (Band 8 and above)
For lower bands - it really depends on your group. If you're the odd-man-out then it's tough.
My last group wasn't much for interaction so it was all on me.
My current group (not IBM (!)) is very much for very dynamic interaction (which I'm getting used to) but still fine totally remote.
And his career will suffer for relying on Watson AI to run the Business. Now downvote me Watson bot, you unsellable POS.
Completely disingenuous. IBM is constantly closing sites, displacing office workers who suddenly become "remote". Just another play to dump westerners.
Working for IBM "your career does suffer."
"Your career does suffer" when you have an inept clown for a CEO! 😲
AK is right. It's not that you nor how valuable y9ur work is for IBM. It's the office politics which will help your career at IBM. Hang physically around the execs, get a lot of face time with them, get promoted. Remotely you don't socialize with bosses so you're not part of their friends and family. How do you think AK has made it to CEO..?
Not everyone can have exec admins, private helicopters, and private butlers when we go to the office unlike the CEO and SVPs
Tell that to all my managers who have worked remote for 20+ years.
They seem to be doing very well for themselves.
Think! IBM cannot think outside the box. How can they be number #1 if they are trying to keep up with #2. Everyone needs to come back into the office.....ha...ha...!
Why would you want to work in the office? You have to deal with all the id--t managers and watch all the employees sit around their desks and chit chat about nothing all day. I worked from home for 25 years and was far more productive not to mention I replaced two hours of commute time with two hours of work time. NO BRAINER!!! Fu-k ARVIND!!!
if they are suffering, put them out of their misery
He's presuming that IBM is offering me a career path that I want to follow. It never occurs to him (and senior management in general) that I may prefer working at home to working at IBM.
Figures it was from the India Times
He's a complete POS. Hope he ends up in an orange jumpsuit!
IBM to AK: The company as a whole is suffering since the days of Ginni and what have you done so far to improve employee morale and stock prices ?
