Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Is anyone still proud to be working here?

Just curious.

@4ysv+1muPuwaJ It's the Educational institutions. All Business related degree paths now have a heavy focus on DEI and Social responsibility; equal coverage to the traditional business curriculum. If you take some classes or simply subscribe to get the latest trending TED talks in business, you'll get a preview of what buzzwords will be core to the companies next initiative. None of them have original ideas, or even close.

IDK why Ford leadership can’t understand that they should be apolitical and practice meritocracy. Customers want a quality product, not a lesson in social engineering. Good employees want to create a quality product and improve their skills, not be forced to participate in the latest force management games be they reindeer games or hunger games.

But hey if you can’t compete on safety, quality and value; create a diversion, sling that mud, institute divisiveness. After all it worked so well with the dont buy Jxp crxp campaigns of the 70s and 80s. Look who dominates the market now with safe affordable quality vehicles.

@1twk+1muPuwaJ. There is no catching up to anything. Toyota is a Japanese company with little diversity. Toyota North America is not a significant organization, it doesn't have real impact. It is just there for political reason and can fill it's insignificant operations with "diversity" as long as the real work is done in Japan.

This company has been in a death spiral for years, beginning with Nasser. The only common denominator is it has all been under libtard Billy's watch.

I am honored to be a part of the Ford Family.

One other thing we are working on is diversity.

"DiversityInc named Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) one of its 2022 Top 50 Companies for Diversity®, ranking 4th, up from 7th last year (i.e. 2021). Toyota is the only automotive manufacturer ranked in the Top 10.

As you can see, we have some catching up to do - but we are on the right track!

Loss of common sense in ‘leadership’ is large contributor to apathy towards ford.

Everyone knows that very few people can paint a masterpiece, giving everyone a paint brush and declaring they are all painting at the same level is plain foolishness. Now if you are painting banners for a high school pep rally, sure give everyone a paintbrush, who cares about the quality. But designing autos and software, only fools would take that approach.

Ford takes it one step further the least capable painters are promoted and the managers believing they are highly skilled painters, after all they were promoted, begin squashing the abilities and accomplishments of the skilled while simultaneously promoting hair-brained schemes that get rubber stamped upwards and cost the company $$$$$$$.

Once upon a time there were LL4s who had common sense and actual engineering skills who would say: Now wait a moment show me how that would work, and explain to me why you are wasting company resources on this tosh. Now the game is rigged all the way to the top and it’s all about empire building and there are no consequences for wasting company resources.

All of the skilled painters having grown weary of doing all the real work while others get the credit have quiet quit. Funny that all the loafing team members cry foul and claim the skilled are not being team players. Funny how the work product quality drops dramatically when the few skilled workers just let the team fail.

I am still somewhat proud to work at F, but not proud of our CEO JF who makes pronouncements to the media about how not everyone can be unskilled, how we have an excess # of engineers, and how the company is much better off splitting into different groups based on Ice vs EV vs Services. Eliminate the old silos then create more silos then complain that "we are too bloated". Uhhh, the buck stops with you Jimmy car car...perhaps those engineers you are hiring in Mexico, India and china are not nearly as productive as we are in the US? Or are too many DEI hires making us lose focus and efficiency?

Mixed bag. On one hand I’m happy we’re making progress when it comes to the way of working, on the other I can’t stand all the people that seem to think we have to keep doing the same stuff we’ve done for 100 years exactly the same way. It’s very clear people don’t want to change anything and think status quo will keep us around.
That being said I don’t like how Farley talks sh-t like he didn’t know and play the same games everyone else has been playing.
Will we get out of this? Idk, maybe. Will software alone save us? He-l no, but neither will “just building cars.” If there’s one thing Farley understands is that our competition is fierce and “just making good cars” dooms us to be the flip phones of auto.
But whatever it is, I don’t think we’ll get anywhere if we make it all about politics like it seems this forum has. Kinda disappointed this page has devolved from real news on cuts to fear mongering and doom scrolling.

@gua+1muPuwaJ. Yes, affluent minorities working at Ford struggle so much. There have been programs at universities and companies like Ford boosting opportunities for minorities for decades. Ivy league schools admit minorities with test scores that would only get white or Asians into directional state u. Many minorities getting those benefits grew up in affluent homes and attended excellent schools. Don't you bring anything to the table other than fake diversity? What opportunities are not available to the children of minorities working at Ford?

Meanwhile @gua the product quality is in the dumpster, not a single product has had a successful launch, the company is so massively leveraged that a good stiff wind will crater the business. But rah rah on the DEI medal to energy initiatives. James Taggart would be proud. Everyone knows what happens next Atlas Shrugs.

I am very proud. My team - LL5 and beneath - has gone from being 100% straight white men to 50% white TOTAL. And less than 50% male. We have made huge leaps and bounds to ensure that a wide array of backgrounds are represented here. The opportunity to work with such different people has been so eye-opening. I never realized what struggles minorities face in this world. Now I have a deeper understanding. I am so proud of our team.

A big NO! I used to be proud working for Ford. Just doing the minimum possible to keep my job and packing my pension and 401k.

@OP. My son is proud of me working at Ford. Of course, I don't tell him what piece of sh1t the company has become. Maybe because I am not proud of it anymore.

@pug. Almost the same story as you. Funny thing is I have been working in a high tech semiconductor company since I left, but wasn't technical enough for Ford. Pension and salary target.

I can do you two better; now I been gone over a year, I am not only not proud I used to work for Ford, I am very NOT proud I stayed for almost 20 years.

Seems like wasted time now that I have tasted what it is like to work for other companies.

I hate big brother. The Proud Boys have been convicted of Free Speech. Your masters say you should now only be proud of 'Cats that believe they are Fish', and then hate anyone who disagrees. We are in cultural freefall, as designed, as a sovereign crime against all freedom loving people.
