Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Fly under the radar

I'm a complete drain on the payroll and still got the same raise as everyone else. The people running the show are too overloaded to really know whats goin on. Most managers at the shop level have 40+ direct reports and they spend all their time chasing parts and getting yelled at. They can't keep track of what every employee is doing. Anyone that believes hard work here will pay off is just signing up for an increased workload. Do the bare minimum, fly under the radar, get your block 5 and take it easy if you want to survive here. Put your energy into investing in yourself so you can have a future after you depart ways with Hon. The most successful people I have met here have invested in businesses and real estate and higher education, they didn't waste their time waiting for Honeywell to improve their lives.

Everybody should take this advice to heart. @1syw+1m5BhL8K said it perfectly.

Happy to give away my secret to keeping the dot green that was not IT identifiable. I taped an infra red mouse on top of a small analogue travel clock, every minute the mouse picked up a nudge. As it was now essentially a USB device I just plugged it in whenever I needed it :) I was also once a grafter until I realised it was a completely pointless endeavour at Honeywell. I have far better things to do.

Joined the ranks of most here, going from highly motivated and wanting to drive progress, to being a paycheck drain and contributing nothing. My full time job is keeping the dot green and looking for opportunities elsewhere. Now that I’ve found the ideal, I’m really tempted to see how long it takes them to fire me. What happens to a person with a green dot?

You are an inspiration. I am working to accomplish what you have achieved. I am at what can probably said is about 2-3 hours a day. Still meeting my deadlines and objectives. Plus, I've figured out how to do the training with virtually zero efforts. Keep it up!

I have Literally ....LITERALLY, not been at work, WFH basically...whatever..call it "present" more than 18 hours a week, since 2009. In 2009, my vacuum puller boss, PIP'ed me, as "it was my turn in the pickle barrel". That is when I took the RED PILL, and saw the company for what it was ! I thank them for opening my eyes ! I charge a minimum of 54 hours a week, was a "high yield", sometimes in the high 65 hours a week charging. Same boss, 2 years latter gave me a Block 2 ! I was never there! Yes, I did drive into work once a day, so the gate saw I was there, most times I went out another gate, and went home. Sometimes I went in , to go out for lunch, then dropped lunch crew off at the gate (as I was nice, and going to find a parking spot), then I left! Blocked out daily meetings on my schedule, and like others said, keep head down, don't volunteer, do't do anything, and the pay check keeps coming. The COVID scam was the best godsend ! Since March 18th 2020, again, LITERALLY, have not stepped onto the wretched place ! The program I work on, has a unlimited exemption, most of the team don't even know who I am, but again, the check-a($$$$) keeps coming. I don't even fool around with the "unlimited vacation", as I am on permanent vacation! I thought for sure, when WFH was expiring, they would zap me, but no, same gig, even less hours, basically log in the morning, and log off at night, less than 5 minutes a day, for the same paycheck, same block 5 raise. Yep, the RED PILL WORKS.

Your success threatened those above you. Most likely, they were the types that got into their positions by attrition and shouldn't have been there in the first place. They have ideas of getting promoted in to the very top of Honeywell and are focusing on eliminating threats from below. Have seen this many times where the most capable are eliminated/harassed to protect their position. Seems to be also going on in upper management. Good luck in your future. I am sure you will do well.

Being proactive at Honeywell and getting sh1t done despite every effort to stop me got me Riffed. Great company.

I've been in that mode for some time. Started at GAPD in the 80s. Got promoted in the 90s and been at flight idle ever since. Had more bosses than cars (prefer German). Keep my head down, volunteer for nothing. When they ask for a schedule, I give them what they want to hear. Never get in trouble for missing dates when I blame procurement or some other off-shore resource. Haven't had to work a (unpaid) weekend since Obama was in office. My wife also works for HON, she makes me look like a real an amateur. We both laugh at what we have gotten away with since they started management who didn't work their way up in the department. It's like those bosses in Office Space asking about the TPS reports.

Like the OP I am very self aware, aware of the futility of investing my best efforts to a system that is completely broken and you are barred from fixing. My health and sanity is not worth wasting on an effort that delivers absolutely nothing.

OP "I'm a complete drain on the payroll"- you certainly have one thing going for you: self-awareness.

Same for me too! I'm surprised anyone at this company even gives a sh1t anymore. Why would they? They get worked and worked but they get no reward. Maybe they're afraid of losing their jobs I don't know. But my days of working hard for Honeywell are LONG GONE.

@eaf
None of the training that I have received at Honeywell has done anything for me. It has only insulated Honeywell from any bad decisions that I may make along the way. Honeywell's training is only for liability limitation and not improving their people. Tuition reimbursement is a joke because you don't get a thing until you complete the entire thing. Then you may get something if you stay. Which you probably won't.

Feck all training for me, I got d-mber working at Honeywell. There was no caliber to learn from, it was truly terrible. Most people there should have never graduated their Mickey Mouse universities let alone get a job in an engineering corporation. Wow.

You are correct. If you are going to be at Hon for a while anyway, get all the training and skill development you can while there. That will help you get a better job outside if you so choose. Meantime it helps you, helps the company, everyone wins. Training is free, and tuition reimbursement may not be available in your next job. Always continue to self improve and your future prospects will improve in tandem.

Thanks for the advice Mr MadDog.
I always appreciate hearing how executives get to where they are, makes perfect sense.

100% truth. I went from being highly motivated and working long hours to literally not caring if the whole thing imploded and doing 8 hour days. Over the last 10+ years ice seen how the company has screwed the working class in favor of the leadership team to the point where all they do is run around screaming "do something!!!" When things fall apart. They were promoted for being someone's buddy, or the right race/gender/ethnicity, not necessarily based on aptitude. So fast forward to today.....I got a garbage raise and was told it was considered good in the corporation and that I should be happy with it. Well, I'm not. I overdrove all my metrics last year and who benefited? Certainly not me. My boss probably did, his boss most likely did, his boss most certainly did, but where's my cut of the pie?

I'm told I need to do more and more, that breaking last years revenue record isn't enough. This company is like a he---n addict; enough is never enough. I've learned that getting worked like a rented mule for this place will not pay off for me. The only way to change my life is to get my affairs in order and leave HON. It's basically a sweatshop now; all the employees toil away while the ALT gets filthy rich and laughs about it behind our backs. Enough is enough.

I hope the ALT is proud of themselves! They managed to take a hard working employee and turn him into a mindless robot contributing the absolute bare minimum and doing it with absolute glee.

Real impressive leadership.
