Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

We will never go back to the way things were before'

Looks like Jeff was playing to the crowd.
This looks like a WFR without the payoff.

I am going to go ham in Tell Dell. They are using Tell Dell results last time round to indicate that people prefer a hybrid model with attendance onsite mandatory for some people when in fact people prefer the option of a hybrid model. This time round people need to get their voice heard.

You know what to do. Answer negatively in Tell Dell. And then surprise surprise you get cut.....as a result of the anonymous survey. Place is full of snakes and do not trust a single person there

Wrong. Maybe ‘your’ manager in EMEA knew and maybe others found out, but all management in general was not told about this. Which, is pretty bad.

@1gcl+1mwiYvFJ Thats BS because in EMEA we heard this was coming weeks ago and im not in managment but we had been told by management it was expected.

so you're not going in because of g-n violence. Do you go to the mall, movies, restaurants. Nice try...but pretty poor

I don't know about others but I have only increased in productivity since working remote. I DO NOT have distractions as my job is very tedious and I agree that we are not paid industry wages. Forcing me to come into the office would effectively be a 1k paycut per month. Not to mention the growing g-n violence and the fact that I was constantly sick in the cube farm. I am not RTO and my team will suffer immensley when I and others leave.

Management wasnt told about this beforehand, i have confirmation of that. They were as blindsided as the regular employees.

Them doing this nonsense right before Tell Dell surveys come out was a ballsy move. I hope they get obliterated for it.

This has JC written all over it. Ive always felt he was a big phony. Why would MD put that big article out on Linkedin not that long ago where he basically said employee choice is the future and forcing RTO is a bad move, now only to suddenly change course so fast? JC was in his ear about it and he finally caved.

OP is dead on, this is a WFR without it being a WFR. Theyre banking on a number of people to get pi---d about this and leave.

You are forgetting that Dell and other companies would be nothing without the employees doing the so called dirty work. Hardworking and highly capable people will leave eventually, it is just a matter of time. Forcing people to come back to the office won't improve productivity and if anything will push away remaining talent... slackers are doing well at Dell and nobody is going after them. Management is only looking after themselves just like top execs instead of addressing real issues. RTO=loads of bollocks.

These people don’t want to RTO unless they can force others too.

Same people who want to raise your taxes but refuse to send more money to the IRS themselves.

Bunch of weasels.

Perhaps the “leaders” are saying this is what Tell Dell responses are.
However they might have been attending /reading copying or drinking executive Kool Aid.

Even big companies like Apple/aws/goog had to postpone rto. THese are companies that actually shelled out a lot of money for employ perks and amenities. Dell liquidated and chopped up it's buildings for parts and hawked it at the local flea market.

I like to think that it's so bad they will actually reverse course when this is realized.
howver They dont care about employees. It's a dying brand and a sqeeze as much milk out of the cow before it dies mentality.

Well, I saw some people commenting today on the hybrid site that they answered thinking it would be their ‘choice’ not a requirement. So my guess is, the question was not perceived to mean what they communicated today - and I don’t know 1 person that replied to a preferred hybrid situation. Very odd- I think they should have asked again this year first and then show the number that prefer it. I find it very hard to believe

You are definitely not wrong! It's like a game of chicken.

I want to know who these people are that they claimed asked for this in Tell Dell?

To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I don’t think leadership
Understands how the majority is feeling right now about the mandate to RTO. Especially those who either have worked remotely prior to COVID and were hired remotely since to ‘attract talent”. It is not a one size fits all approach and some people chose Dell for their flexible
‘Remote’ policy. What happened to 60% or more being remote? Doing it all wrong - doing it all
Wrong.

@1mhy+1mwiYvFJ Your right.
Lets be honest its not a great place to work.
Dell pay below market salary and compensation.
Management still think Dell is a big player when in fact its far from the truth.Lets be honest with tell Dell an see how that goes.
Dell wants kids straight out of college to work for peanuts and are easy to groom into drinking the kool aid.

It’s true there are many very remote employees that have always done a great job but many others are working part time.
Managers will sort out who is who. I think it’s time to be honest.

I’ve been designated a full time remote employee since 2007. During that time I have promoted 5 grade levels. I can successfully execute my job from home. I’ve proven this. Today’s announcement is very disappointing, especially given the vague reasoning. I’ve yet to see an actual valid reason I am being asked to return to the office when I haven’t been there in 16 years.

Not really sure if they can discriminate against local employees.
Surely staff have a HR case if this is enforced?

During the pandemic productivity was high and now everyone has distractions. Management knows this. It’s time to go back to work. If you think you are so important you can dictate terms you will be history. Stop the complaining you are nothing but employees.

no.
weak and feeble will be going in with passive aggressive mentality.
strong skill and confident will quit.

dell needs the latter not the former.
