Too much micromanagement

I changed several companies before I got the job here, but I never experienced so much micromanagement in any of them. Why is that?
Surely the reason is not that they want to get the best out of people.
As for colleague who left recently, I know for sure that micromanagement is one of the reasons for his departure.

The more workers they get rid, they in turn hire more leaders to micro manage what’s left to ensure the works getting done. We’re going to look like a state highway crew soon. One guy with a shovel and six micromanagers staring at him.

Sounds like you complaining because they found out you are unproductive. More work, less complaining. Try it.

Once again, the upper management is still stuck in the old baby bell mentality when they were the only players in town and ran the business as a monopoly. They are from the SBC environment! Since the breakup in 1984, T has been stuck in that management mindset and just can't figure it out. They keep throwing things against the wall to see what will stick in order to generate revenue, but in the long run, every undertaking T gets involved in ultimately ends up in failure! T needs someone from outside the bell system to step in with clarity of business mind and to clean up management. Someone needs to come in and "Drain the swamp!"

They don’t want the best out of people. They just want higher numbers on some spreadsheet so they’ll get a bigger bonus, half of which goes to the IRS.

Micromanagement will never get a good product and will entice people to work just hard enough to keep their jobs.

Leaders resent any subordinate trying to show them up. They are suspicious when they have nothing to be suspicious about. Leaders at at&t have very, very, fragile ego's, you need to learn how to walk on eggshells when approaching them.
Most managers will commit stolen valor by taking credit for any success stories of their subordinates.
