Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Takeaways from Townhall

The show is mainly through, share some thoughts:

  1. Same B@#@!t would continue as the company has been doing so well and DA is still executive chairman as he said.
  2. The top is clearly pathologically delusional and they are very proud of it.
  3. More VOEs down the pipe as numbers are showing improvement; in their mind, VOEs would address all the morale problems and demonstrate to the world that "they" care (they don't).
  4. To categorize the company's businesses into 4 groups is the most scary one - many possibilities that can come out of it. It could be the next bloodbath; or, it may be the final straw that breaks the back.

Final thought - just looking at the panel of senior leaders, can't believe this is the level of talent running one of the largest U.S. companies. Unbelievable, no wonder the country is in the deep hole it is today, the founding fathers must be rolling in their graves. "It is a republic, if you can keep it". Well, we clearly failed.

Feel free to share yours.

It pleases me that I am not the only one that remembers Eraserhead. You must be close to retirement also. Good on you!

Huge egos believe themselves to be in a different class, and have utter contempt for their workers.

I tell you what DA, how about putting in 100% into the business rather than your own pocket. There is only one person to blame for the death of Honeywell and that is the 'man' up top pal. You sir have ZERO integrity or respect from anyone at Honeywell.

Styling and profiling by an empty suit -- all disingenuous.

Hahahaha the people not giving 100% are ki-ling Honeywell, huh? Yea it's definitely not all the offshoring or repeated cuts to employee headcount or refusal to fix the supply chain. Nope, it's all the employees fault, as usual.

It's a good thing I stopped giving my 100% years ago after I figured out the business keeps 99% of the fruits of my labor. As I've said, hard work is expected, but not rewarded here at Honeywell. Just keep coming in and doing the absolute bare minimum. My decision to quiet quit has been the best decision I've made working here and I encourage everyone to do it.

DA did mention that the folks who weren't putting out 100% effort were ki-ling Honeywell. I am sure that the folks putting out less than maximum effort aren't doing the damage that DA and company are doing. What a faker.

Did DA say anything more about shopping for $500 bottles of wine? What a jerk.

They admit that SPS was trashed. Then migrate all the people responsible for trashing it to corporate.

Expect the same crisis in CE, marketing, comms, sales.

They won't announce the big stuff or disclose intention in a Townhall, it will be kept on the down low until the last moment and dropped late on a Friday afternoon. As the commenter below mentioned, the admission on SPS was most unusual for them and as big a clue as you are going to get.

I expected something bigger than what was presented. Maybe HR/Legal couldn't get it done in time for the meeting? They may have had something in the works when the Town hall was scheduled and it fell through? An SPS spinoff or sale? I can't see Honeywell investing more money in a business that they have shown that they can't manage.

The sheep all applaud while dear leader applauds his own speech, just like Eraserhead.

One takeaway that surprised me, though we all know it, is when DA specifically stated that SPS is in crisis mode. They certainly won't keep an SBG that is in crisis mode.

Sad.

More proof of their arrogance and just how out of touch they are. Dispicable!!

Nice concise takeaway. When DA was blaming the managers for people leaving and such, I had a flashback to a John Boy Townhall where John Boy said essentially the same thing. Accepted no responsibility for anything less than optimal. It was everybody else's fault. Much like an errant child. Sad.

VOE survey results: DA could not believe that people feel they do not feel secure in their jobs and feel they don't have career/promotional opportunities. He can't believe the survey results. He said people leave, and if they left on good terms they often come back. Managers are not communicating well about opportunities within HON.

Another tone-deaf rant. He totally missed the ball on this one. The result is PEOPLE ARE UNHAPPY WITH THEIR JOBS. People only come back if the grass wasn't greener for whatever reason. The truth is the only way to get a decent salary increase at HON is to change roles (even if it is a lateral move) or leave and come back. They'll hire you back at more than you were making when you left.

And VK: The flogging will continue until morale improves. He said changes are coming. Given his track record I don't think it will be sunshine and roses.

Yes and the water choice just showed that they were getting prepped for a nice lunch with a many hundred dollar bottle(s) of wine. Followed by an afternoon on the golf course. DA has to get ready for retirement!

More useless to the job function mandatory “training” incoming via accelerator and lots of jobs about to become obsolete with AI entering the picture. And the water choice was a nice touch. Really drove it home as to where these guys heads are at.

More VOE surveys until they get the metrics they did. Hey, they gotta act like they are doing something...

Biggest takeaway for me is that executives with multi-million dollar salaries don’t worry about child care and can come into the office 5 days a week. While the situation wasn’t the best for the question and the issue affects a small percentage of employees the answer was quite tone deaf. These people have no tact.
