Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Bad manager, so I left.

I didn't like Cisco. My manager (1st time being a manager), was always late to our 1:1's. So I started to track it. On average, he was 7 minutes late over the year. He was also very good at screaming on the phone.

Isn't it ironic on how the company pushes acceptance, equality, and mostly respect for all.

Then often managers will be total non-respectful and yelling fools on individual calls.

Do as I say, not as I do.

"I left over the terrible culture hidden by virtue signaling."

It's just a chaotic distraction. All corporations use chaos and distractions to their advantage.

I left over the terrible culture hidden by virtue signaling. Worst work culture I ever encountered however many of the people there are fine folks just trying to make a difference.

Until the leadership changes you will not see much change for you. Constant worry about layoffs takes a toll on your wellbeing and will make you develop Stockholm Syndrome if you’re not careful.

"The higher you go up the ladder at Cisco, the more psychopathic the work environment."

Very true. because people with common sense cannot survive in that environment. I have seen a team under a VP which has more marketing members than technical people. The marketing gang job is to post (makes a mountain out of a molehill) larger than life stories of their VP in linked In and other magazines. This is new Cisco.

"Frankly I find it difficult to believe. As woke as Cisco is, I can’t imagine our HR dept not swooping down on that person and plucking them from their job."

You must not interact with many VPs or Senior Directors on a track to VP. A quote from a Cisco VP - "My favorite thing about my job is treating employees however I want and they have to smile back"

This was after he threw something at a Sr Manager in a meeting. The higher you go up the ladder at Cisco, the more psychopathic the work environment. Many of the clueless Directors actually act as a buffer for their teams.

In all my time at Cisco I have never encountered someone who yells or screams when speaking to anyone let alone coworkers or direct reports. Frankly I find it difficult to believe. As woke as Cisco is, I can’t imagine our HR dept not swooping down on that person and plucking them from their job.
